Hello all. What pregnancy books would you recommend. Are there any aimed at men that you would recommend too?

Thanks

Someone has lent me 'Your Pregnancy Bible' but Dr Anne Deans. It's very good, lots of detail and a whole chapter on becoming a Dad which my OH has found quite useful.

What's that Haynes one like?

My DH is reading the Pregnancy for Men book (turquoise cover, yellow writing) and has really enjoyed it- its well-written and funny, written in such a way to make digesting the information easier and broken down into manageable chunks with useful 'you need to be doing xyz' lists.

I found the Rough Guide to Pregnancy a good read- again light-hearted and written from the POV of someone who sounded similar to myself. also have What to Expect When You are Expecting and found it very Americanised and dull.

i have heard good things about the Day By Day pregnancy book but haven't bought it because its not cheap.

Thanks for your suggestions. That's very helpful.

DH has Mark Wood's Pregnancy for Men book (as mentioned above), and seems rather happy with it, though I must remember and have a read of it too to make sure I approve of its advice! Wink

I just got a couple of old ones out of a charity shop for myself which are good, but not up to date. I get a lot of my info from here and health websites in terms of current advice.

My book purchases for myself have been more focused on parenting and breastfeeding.. clearly thinking ahead (or don't want to dwell on pregnancy too much!).

I got given "your pregnancy bible". It's ace. It's answered pretty much every question I've had for the last 37 weeks. Plus it has stuff for afterwards too, like bathing, nappies, breastfeeding etc.
