Thinking of having a 3d/4d scan and was wondering if it was perfectly safe as the only place nearby to me that offers them is a husband and wife team privately.

Hello again! I'm not stalking you - promise!! I went for one at the weekend and as far as I know they are perfectly safe. Have a look around though, I thought there were none at all near me, only as you say, really 'private' ones but I eventually found a clinic held within a doctor's surgery.

Thanks - did you find out what you were having? and how many weeks pregnant are you? Do you think they are worth having?

Hi Twisty - how far along are you? I had one of these at 28 weeks and it was great. The 'best' time to have them is apparently between 28 and 32 weeks. There do seem to be more and more places springing up that offer them so worth looking carefully if you are worried about the credentials of this couple.

If you want to see a pic from mine then search member profiles for Tabs, as I posted one there about 3 months ago.

Just logged off to have a bath - thanks for that tabs - will look up yours - I am only 20 weeks and was thinking of waiting for a few weeks before having one!

Definately have it earlier rather than later - mine was a total disaster and we got no pics. The first time we went the lady said that the placenta was in the way so we endsed up stuck there for 4 hours with her telling me to 'keep active' In the end they asked me to come back the next day, to see a different woman, who said she couldn't see the face because the arm was up next to it so blocking the view and she didn't bother to try again or get it to move so we lost out and are waiting for our money back. This was at 30 weeks so we've decided not to try again as space is getting limited in there!!

What a nightmare! The one that I was thinking of visiting suggested 28 weeks - do you suppose that would be a good time or still too late?

Definately go for it.... I get the impression they are a fantastic experience when they go right! I think it was just bad luck on our part. I think the time 'limit' for the company we went to was 28-32 weeks as the baby is at the point of looking more like the baby it will be when born but at the same time remember that there is less and less space in there as time goes on! Good luck though - I hope you get a good one!!

I am hoping to have one of these done as well and our nearest clinic does them from 22 to 30 weeks so going for it sooner rather than later to get more of the baby on the screen at one time
