Sudden increase in Morning Sickness??

Hi All, I'm 10 + 6 and although I've felt incredibly nauseous since week 6, I hadn't actually thrown up. Until today! I was thinking things should start calming down around now! Is it normal to have an increase in morning sickness about now, and if so, does it mean that its likely to go on beyond 12-14 week stage?!

Sound just like me. Nausea kicked in at 6 weeks, then actual vomitting at about stage. Alas mine didn't go til 18 weeks. Better than never though, which seems to be the case for some people who have it right up until baby's born. Also on the plus side, my nausea stage was just absolutely horrific, I've never felt so ill all day every day - the being actually sick was in some ways a bit better than that - i.e. extreme nausea followed by throwing up followed by slightly less bad nausea - as opposed to the previous extreme nausea, followed by extreme nausea, followed by more extreme nausea iyswim.

Thanks babbashouse - I can totally relate to that - I remember thinking at my most nauseous that I would probably feel better if I could just be sick and so far today that's definitely been the case. I think if I feel like this for the rest of the day, being sick first thing will completely trump my constant nausea. Let's see how it goes (I expect the nausea to come back though really :-()

I don't think it's unusual to go from feeling nauseous to being sick. It certainly happened that way for me. Your hormone levels are still increasing at the moment I think, they peak later and then morning sickness will is meant to ease.

Personally, I don't think that its just hormone levels that have made me sick. I was having morning any time of day sickness fairly reguarly up to 19 weeks and reguarly lost one or two meals every day. (I understand other women get it much more intense than this so don't consider myself particuarly hard done by). However since then, I've had on and off sickness, sometimes going up to 5 days or so with nothing, and then had a few days of sickness.

I've noticed that when my baby was quiet and I felt only occasional movements, I wasn't really sick. But now that baby is making more movements I am having more bouts of sickness. Though I'm happy to trade this for feeling my baby as I had been a little concerned that it took so long for me to feel her/him but obviously it isn't pleasant.

I wonder if the position my baby is in is physically pushing against my stomach more and causing the sickness or whether the increased movements have made me feel more queasy or whether its coincidence.

Your experience will probably be different - I'm not saying you'll still be sick at 24 weeks like me! - just don't feel cheated if your sickness doesn't disappear at the oft-quoted 12 weeks, it may or may not. Every pregnancy is different.

Hope I don't scare you, but I am 14+6, and my MS is only getting worse :(

Sastra · 09/04/2012 10:56

Sorry to hear that Milk :-( No, it doesn't scare me - I've heard of lots of poor souls in a similar position to you! I think I'm just telling myself its going to get better - that's how I'm getting through!

I'm only freaking out slightly as I'm starting a new job tomorrow - this promises to be FUN.
