Should my C-section be booked by now?

I'm 33 weeks and due to have a planned caesarian. I was told it was May 18th but have just seen the midwife who says there are no notes on my file and nothing has been booked... Do I need to worry?

Mine was booked at 36 weeks.

My appt to discuss one isn't until 35w

I remember being twitchy about how late my elcs was booked with DD2. So I think this is quite usual Smile

shoeprincess2 · 08/04/2012 14:04

I believe it is around the 35-36 week mark, as I will be having an ELCS (due to previous humungous baby of 10lb 12oz and a failed induction).

OTTMummA · 08/04/2012 16:07

I had my first c section booked at 36 weeks, and this time I had it booked at my first consultant appt when I was 20 weeks. I think it depends on a few things like, hospital policy, why you are having a section, and the consultants personal choice.

Newtothisstuff · 08/04/2012 16:41

I'm due on the 19th may but will have the section the week before.. I'm 34 weeks now and my appointment is on Thursday to get me booked in

Oh good, sounds like it's fairly normal then :)
thank you x

I'm 37+4 and it's still not booked. Found to be breech at 35+5 and the obs keep trying to get me to think about ECV and come back & chat etc etc. doesn't seem to be any urgency. They told me for first baby they book in ELCS for 39w and I'm back in at 38 exactly to confirm this with them. Though what there is to discuss I'm not sure. they also told me to expect a pre-op appt at the hospital when they discuss the procedure, not eating, anti sickness drugs etc, and that that would be the day before (or 2 days before) the op. They said all of this would be confirmed verbally and not to expect a letter from the hospital or anything like that. Good luck!

I was booked at 30 weeks with a date - sounds like this must be unusual!

OTTMummA · 08/04/2012 19:31

I think it mostly depends on the reason behind the c section, as in, if it isn't deemed important to have a set date, i,e at 38/39 weeks for the saftey of baby or mum, then they leave it later, the more serious cases generally get booked sooner.

mousebacon · 09/04/2012 09:13

I'll get my date at 36 weeks when I see the consultant again Smile

VickityBoo · 09/04/2012 09:16

I was booked quite early on before (around 32 weeks) but with a view to cancel If baby turned. She didn't.

I think it depends on what kind of delivery you had previously? Has your midwife said anything? I got my consultant appt alongside my 12w scan appt (horrific first delivery which resulted in EMCS). I think if you had an EMCS first time round you should automatically get a consultant appt to discuss your next delivery?
