Lack of kicks - please reassure me

I haven't felt any movement or kicks since thursday night now and am feeling worried. I'm only 21 weeks and 4 days but had been feeling irregular movements every day since 18 weeks.

Should I be really worried (I am!) or is it nothing to be concerned about this early?

In my notes it says my placenta is anterior, could he just have turned around and be kicking into me if that makes sense? This is my first baby so I am not sure what is normal at this stage.

Should I be calling my midwife?

Thank you xx

I'm 22weeks and with an anterior placenta. I can feel baby move inside but not yet felt it on the outside. I was told at my scan that once baby is bigger I will certainly feel it.

It is likely that the baby has just changed position. However, I would phone the midwife anyway. They will probably just check for a heartbeat with the doppler but at least that will put your mind at rest.

Hi glittershoes I had a similar thing around the same time as you - bab went quiet for a bit and my instinct was to get it checked out. Everything was fine, as I'm sure you are too but I would call your midwife - primarily to ease your mind as worrying is not good for you or the baby.
I went to the hospital and they checked the baby's heartbeat, all was good and the nurse said the baby had probably moved position (I have anterior high placenta too) or I was busier than usual and just hadn't noticed the movements so much.

Try not to worry but do call just to give you peace of mind [busmile]

I would obviously discuss this with your midwife but to reassure you my ds2 hardly moved at all...I went for reassurrance scans etc and I almost never got 10 kicks per day but the thing is....thats just him , he is the most chilled out little fella and Im sure he was just sat in there chilling out sucking his thumb all cosy because that is his personality.

Some of them are frenetic, some of them are chilled. As long as you don't go 24 hours (randomly chosen number) without feeling anything I wouldn't be too concerned!

Glitter the MWs at the hosp this week said it's really good if you can feel movement from 18wks, but I don't think it gets regular until a little later on. It might be that the little one has hidden behind your placenta, and that's cushioning the movements. When they listened to bumps HB I could here loads of movement which I couldn't feel, it was really weird!
Have you tried the usual tricks? drinking something really cold/sugary/cola? or eating something?
But, as always, if you're really worried then call your midwife, that's what they are there for. [busmile]

maybe try having a really cold drink, then lying down, normally it just means they have turned round. but maybe call for peace of mind

Thanks everyone. I gave them a call and they were lovely and told me to come in straight in. She found him straight away with a Doppler and said that he will just have moved around so is kicking the other way.

I felt a bit bad for bothering them but they were so lovely and said anytime I was worried to give them a call. I feel really reassured just knowing that he is being an awkward monkey!
