Help with testing in pregnancy

I have previously had a stillborn baby at 23 weeks and recently found no fetal heartbeat at 16 weeks both times I had to give birth to my beautiful boys but testing throughout the pregnancy all came back normal, I have a son who is 5 and my water broke at 30 weeks I've never had an easy pregnancy!!!
I am due an appointment with my consultant but need advice on any testing that I can put forward to have done, I have PCOS but I never thought that would be a problem but reading the odd comments maybe it could be??
I was adamant that I would not try again and put me and my family through the heartache but having a baby is all I can think about.... I need help x

I am so sorry to hear about your losses - you have obviously been through a heartbreaking time.

What have you been tested for? If the babies were normal then perhaps you need to be tested for blood clotting issues. Mostly people have these tests after three miscarriages but since you have had later losses you should be eligible. In my case, Antiphospholipid syndrome was found but there are other blood clotting disorders that they can test for too. There is treatment available for this which drastically increases the chance of a live birth.

I have heard that pcos can increase the miscarriage risk but I have no idea if that is a scientific fact or not, and I also doubt it would make any difference beyond the earlier weeks.

Wishing you the best of luck with your consultant's appointment. Don't allow yourself to be fobbed off in any way and ensure they explain to you exactly what tests are being done.

I have had the normal blood testing in pregnancy, swabs to check for various things a d also cervical scanning which were all normal.
I have read about anti phospholipid syndrome and it does sound like a reasonable explanation for what happened but would they not know about that unless tested for it specifically? I have never had problems with blood clotting as I'm aware of though

I had never been aware of any problems until I had the miscarriages. Of course, they could have just been bad luck though. It isn't something they'd know about unless they test for it specifically, it is part of the repeat miscarriage testing and not part of standard pregnancy testing. Many women who have this find that it causes them no other health issues other than in pregnancy so they would not have known about it otherwise.

Thank you I will def be asking about that, I hope they do find something not knowing is worse than finding something wrong x

so sorry for what you have had to go through. Having had recurring losses myself I can understand how you are feeling although I have not experienced such late losses. I can only imagine the heartbreak that must have caused you and your family. I was tested for absolutely everything by one hospital (including different clotting issues) and they could never find anything (although 2 of my m/C's had different chromosomal abnormalities that did not exlplain them all). I was then referred to ST Mary's RMC where they tested me for a clotting issue and I was found to have an over propensity to clot (I think only Dt Mary's test for this particular thing) which had contributed to reduced blood flow to my pregnancies). They have a success rate of 80%. Another theory is killer cells although few if any NHS hospitals treat this, many private doctors do and claim good success rates. There is a great thread on here full of people who know a lot more than me. I can post a link when in my laptop if you would find it useful? They are amazing women who keep on trying despite the barrel loads of shit life has thrown at them. When I was first referred to St Mary's I was overwhelmed as they seemed the first people to really understand all the crap I had been through and make connections with the crap time I had with my one successful pregnancy and looked at my issues holistically. They then have held my hand to get me to 12 weeks and made the whole experience more positive.
I hope you get the answers you are looking for as bring told its just bad luck doesn't really cut it. Big hugs x

Any information that people have is useful as I have never been given any answers or not fully anyway. I declined post mortems on both my boys, I did not want their little bodies put through such a horrid ordeal. But have had placental examinations which are normal. I would love to try again after are wedding but I need answers first. I will be asking for every test possible.
Thank you for your info x
