Horrific pregnancy dreams

For the last 2 nights I have had the most awful, awful dream. I dreamt that I started to bleed and my baby came out. It was tiny but perfectly formed and I could hold him in the palm of my hand. I googled this (stupidly!) and came across all these posts where people had these dreams and then went on to m/c. I have now terrified myself! I am 13 wks 2 days and have had 4 previous m/c

I had a dream like this with my first pregnancy and went on to have my son at 38 weeks. Was very freaked out by it at the time as so vivid but this is the way with pregnancy dreams. So try not to worry :)

Alibobster · 04/04/2012 09:29

Thanks Karron, I know I'm being silly, should know not to google! x

with each pregnancy i had a nightmare atleast once a week!
i think these women writing horror storys are just putting two and two together.
every woman i know goes through this,
try not to worry yourself :)

Poor you - horrible pregnancy dreams are really unsettling. I dreamt all sorts of weird things including giving birth to a half-squid/half-baby. It really freaked me out (was about 5 years ago now but I still remember it very vividly). Lots of other crappy pregnancy dreams and I went on to have three healthy babies at full term. It'll just be that your sleep is disturbed by being pregnant, and being pregnant will be on your mind, so that's why you're dreaming about it.
x

I get awful dreams too.. I used to dream she was born at 23 weeks weighed 1lb and we only had to stay in hospital for an hour !! I'm 33 weeks now Smile

Alibobster · 04/04/2012 09:35

Ladies you have made me feel so much better, thank you x

Flubba, poor you with the squid baby dream :( I also dreamt that I went on a night out, was knocking back the wine and forgot I had left baby in the house on it's own! Roll on October. Thanks for taking the time to answer my post, it's really appreciated xxx

I had a lot of these. The worst was one which was really vivid, when I went to hospital because I was bleeding and thought I would lose the baby without treatment, but no one would help me, the hospital staff kept telling me they were closing and I'd have to wait until after the weekend!

It's something to do with the way the hormones make you more "right brained", so your logic and stuff go all fluffy (baby brain) but you get very intuitive and imaginitive.

Justfeckingdoit · 04/04/2012 10:05

Alibobster I had dreams like this all through my pregnancy with DD.

Scared the crap out of me, but said DD is currently flinging things around the room.

It's hormones :)

I'm sure you will be fine and try not to worry (easier said than done, I know)

Limelight · 04/04/2012 10:16

I had horrendous nightmares during my second pregnancy. Nothing about my baby but all sorts of other horrendous things - I dreamt my DF died, my DH left me, and the worst was that I murdered a group of year 4s at a local primary school! Bizarre! And entirely hormonal.

Congrats on your pregnancy incidentally!

danielou · 04/04/2012 10:35

I have had horrendous nightmares still do I'm 22+4 I put it down to hormones. I had them more earlier on but have them now when I have hardly felt him move.

FoofFighter · 04/04/2012 10:56

Not horrific but yes been havign vivid dreams. one was I was in hospital and in labour when I decided i didn't want to have the baby and cycled wtf! home!

OTTMummA · 04/04/2012 11:05

The worst nightmares in my pregnancies tend to happen right at the start, and then at the end again.
The worst one this time round was i dreamt that we had to send ds1 (4yrs old ) away, but he was half monkey Hmm and we had to send him to a zoo, i didn't want to, but everyone kept telling me we couldn't have 2 children, there wasn't enough room,,,, anyway, in my dream, ds was half monkey, but was wearing clothes, and all the monkeys were attacking him because he was different Sad and i was screaming and pounding the inclosure bars and begging to get him out, and i got dragged away, oh my, i was hysterical!

DH woke me up because i was crying and screaming so loud, i am actually tearing up thinking abou it Sad

I just tell myself it's the hormones, and anxiety.

MistyMountainHop · 04/04/2012 11:11

oh god i had one of these last night and i am not even PG! but wish -i was

i dreamed i gave birth but DH wasn't there and no one could get hold of him and i was holding the baby (who was a boy i called Jack Blush ) and crying and crying coz DH had missed the birth :( and then, the baby turned into smarties and i kept dropping them everywhere

now you will deffo all think i am mental :o

LostInWales · 04/04/2012 11:11

With my first pregnancy I dreamt that DH had died in a car accident but had come back as a ghost to say goodbye and was sitting at our dining room table. I cried and cried so much and it was so vivid I threw away the RL shirt he was wearing in my dream. 12 years and 3 children he's still here Grin

I've also dreamt many times I was giving birth to a tiny baby that was so small it kept getting lost and/or turning into a rabbit. The hormones in pregnancy really do extra ordinary things wait until you get the sex dreams Grin

lalabaloo · 04/04/2012 11:13

I've had some horrendous dreams too, especially at the beginning and now nearer the end. I had a similar dream about the baby being born around the 13 week mark and it was horrible. I'm 35 weeks now

OTTMummA · 04/04/2012 11:25

mistymountaintop sorry, i am sure it was a horrible dream, but that has made me laugh, it reminds me of the skittles advert! Grin

peeriebear · 04/04/2012 11:38

When I first moved into my house I was living alone and heavily pg. I have a huge old dome-topped leather cabin trunk in my living room. I fell asleep on the sofa one of those first nights here and dreamed that the previous tenant (she had been an elderly lady) had died in the house- and now she was inside my trunk.
Just waiting.
Shock
I woke up in an absolute terror with this trunk just feet away from me!

whatsoever · 04/04/2012 11:58

The night before last I dreamt that One Direction (the boyband) were in Hunger Games (as in the book and now the film) and it was all my fault they were being tortured. I woke up really stressed, only to go back to sleep and dream that at my 20 week scan the baby was dead and I had to go into hospital to have the dead baby.

Pretty horrific all round Sad

Hoebag · 04/04/2012 12:23

I had some horrid dreams ,. they seem more vivid in pregnancy.

YaYaOC · 04/04/2012 13:06

Ali if you think that 1 in 7 pregnancy's end in miscarriage, and by the sounds of it (I've never been pregnant so wouldnt be able to tell you) 99.9% of women have extremely vivid, worrying dreams, then its safe to say that those who have miscarried will have had bad dreams then passed the information on to a google forum. But those other 6 pregnancy's that have had vivid dreams have turned out absolutely fine as the lovely mums above have shown. It's just another symptom, like sickness or sore boobs which is not necessarily related directly to miscarriage.
I dont know if this is coming across in the way I mean but I hope it makes you feel a bit better :)

LetsKateWin · 04/04/2012 13:11

Try not to worry about it. I had a dreadful dream when I was pregnant. It upset me so much that§ I couldn't even tell DP. Everything was fine though...what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't make a connection between the dream and RL.

Florin · 04/04/2012 13:13

I have had very vivid dreams and nightmare involving the baby and so has dh. I think it's your minds way of trying to make sense of everything going on and all your fears you have as so much is changing and there is so much to worry about.

sasslejaney84 · 04/04/2012 13:26

I'm 16weeks, so far I have had several 'having the baby' related dreams

I dreamt the baby was born as a cupcake wtaf and I had to try and stop everyone eating it!!

The following night I had a dream that I was taking my DD, my DSC and my best mates 2 DC round a hot chocolate factory and while we were there she went into labour and had a baby panda (what I didn't know at the time was she is pregnant and had only just found out) then as she had given birth I went into labour and she had to deliver my perfectly formed baby bear (think those me to you bears, which my OH had bought me earlier that day!) Very very odd!!

Tbh I wouldn't put much stead into the pregnancy dreams, most of us have mad ones and tbh, mine usually revolve around food!!

Good luck for the rest of the pregnancy, I'm sure you will be fine!!

faintpinkline · 04/04/2012 18:48

With DD I had endless dreams that instead of giving birth to a baby, I had a tiny panda and I had to start a bamboo plantation. They were so real and regular I was actually a little surprised when she turned out to be a baby human and certainly not a panda
