Hi well I'm 22+3 and for over a week now at night when lay in bed my legs are so restless :( it stops me from sleeping.
I have been told its down to low iron levels is this true? If you have had this did you go to docs and did they test your iron levels? Any advice welcome need a good night sleep!

Yes, but I'm not pregnant! Have had it ever since I was pregnant with DS though. Do your feet feel hot as well? I find putting my feet in cold water for a few minutes helps, as does massaging feet and legs. I also found while pregnant that a pillow under your knees helps.

It makes me feel like stamping my feet when it happens. I'm not sure of the causes, but a Google might help!

I think it can be partly down to iron but if your levels were low then I'd imagine your MW would have picked this up in your blood tests?
I've had loads and exercise in the day definitely means I don't get it as bad at night but often just have to get out of bed and have a walk around to be able to stop it.
Horrible isn't it Sad

I've only seen midwife twice this pregnancy and doc once so I've only had 1 lot of bloods and that was at booking in. I had low iron levels picked up later in pregnancy with both my dds I do get up and walk about but as soon as I get back into bed its the same :(

Flight socks can help. Try rlshelp.org or RLS forum facebook page for really good advice.

I'm suffering too and I'm only 14 weeks. It's hideous. My dp gives me a long foot massage every night which helps.

I had RLS when I was pregnant with my DS. It was awful. I was often in a warm bath at 3am (one of the only things that helped). Finally we to GP, who tested iron levels. They were indeed low. He prescribed iron tablets, and it went within 2 days.

Would be worth going to your GP and asking them to arrange a blood test. Good luck.

Worth getting another blood test then definitely.

Last pregnancy I had horrendous RLS and I ended up relying on a leg gel from Origins ('leg lifts', I think). It was expensive but it honestly really did help.

Yes, this was always worst at night and prevented me from getting to sleep. My iron levels were ok throughout the pregnancy, though lower end of normal.

I put it down to lack of exercise, I felt I needed to stress the muscle a bit, to get blood through it. Exercise did help, always ok for a couple of days after swimming and regular little bits of walking helped, so I resorted to tensing the muscle, bouncing from side to side while standing, or walking up and down stairs.
