22+1 today, and just had a bleed when I went to the loo. Sorry if tmi.

Bright red blood, and a fair bit of it. :(

Have been searching the message boards for advice, as don't think I can ring MW till morning, and don't know what to do. (first pg)

any words of comfort gratefully received :)

Friend from work described having 2-3 bleeds, the first at 23 weeks. baby was just a week early and perfect in every way, they never did find out the reason for the bleeds. Just wanted to share that with you. Good luck x

hope all settles down for you im sure it will!
I had 2 bleeds in my first pregnancy had a healthy dd at 39 weeks 6lb 11 and iv had 2 in this pregnancy and im 39+3 and baby is doing well as but there was no exsplanation for them and doc, said, its more common than most pregnant women think x

Thanks Emsgale that's reassuring.

Finally discharged and back home late last night :) Very pleased to be home, bump has been monitored and scanned and is happily floating away in his fluid, none the worse for wear as far as they can tell.

No other reason for bleed apart from PP apparently. But am back in two weeks for consultant follow up, and then another scan two weeks later, and will be checked a bit more often.

Sending you all virtual Thanks for your support.

Really pleased that all seems fine. Don't ever feel silly about phoning the MW if you're worried or popping up to the hospital- that is what they are there for (and what you pay your taxes for!!). Take care x

Hi
I have just come out after 2 nights in Antenatal after a second bleed at 26+3. I didn't post again so as not to worry you as I posted further up when all was ok.
Anyway have now also been told placenta low lying and just covering os. I'm freaking out tbh. What did they say to you?

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 05/04/2012 14:20

Oh no, blacktreaclecat sorry to read that :( Brew

They said Placenta Previa, but they actually have no idea when it happened, or what exactly caused it, so they haven't given me much advice apart from to take it very easy, rest up and call them if anything else happens again in between now and next appointment in 2 weeks.

MWs and sonographer said that there's still time for it to move, and I've got another scan in 3 weeks to check.

I hope you're resting up and taking things easy? I'm now officially scared to sneeze/cough/pee/poop/bend over... :o but trying to be relaxed (much easier said than done!!).

Are you booked in for another scan or appt to check up? It's so worrying isn't it! :(

Just back from consultant. Stopping work. No sex, swimming and to take it very very easy. Another scan in 2 weeks but to go in before if worried or red bleeding.
ATM the aim is to get to 30 weeks. Seems very early and I'm so scared.

ChocolateHelps · 05/04/2012 16:57

I had full placenta previa with DD1. Slight bleed at 25 weeks, given the 2 injections to mature lungs and all that, was very scared! Sent home after a couple of days in ante natal maternity ward (no sleep, everyone in early labour, me with no twinges or any pain!). had another big bleed about 30weeks and then a really big one 3 days before planned C section at 38 weeks, so C section was brought forward a couple of days. Couldn't travel into london to work and everyone around me was on eggshells for the rest of the pregnancy. Was very relieved not to be admitted and kept in hospital from the 25 wk bleed, which was put out as an option at one point....

In the end had very calm planned c section at bang on 38 wks and a healthy but small (2.47kg) baby girl who is now a very healthy 6 1/2yr old running around the house with her friend and 3yr old DD2 is being a doggie and I'm supposed to be doing the dinner!

Hope it all goes well with you, the bright red bleeds are really scary but if baby is OK (mine never even had increased heart rate) then at one extreme they can give you a transfusion to match the blood lost with the aim to keep baby inside cooking for as long as possible. The placenta can move up but if it doesn't a planned c section is totally necessary.

I was relieved to have the time to get my head around c section and really explore the best way to have as good an experience as possible. Went on to have VBAC with DD2 3yrs later. Sending you hugs

I won't even say try not to worry Blacktreaclecat, because it can't be helped, but sending you best wishes and hope that you really can take it very very easy. I guess take each day as it comes, and every additional day is a bonus. Hopefully in 2 weeks when they scan you, things might have moved a bit.

And as ChocolateHelps (love that name!) says, as long as baby is ok, then hopefully they can help keep baby inside for as long as possible. Good luck. x
