I'm a knitter and I really, really want to knit for her! Don't think I'll have time til I finish work though. :( [wish that was now]

Yes! Although since being pg I haven't had the concentration to finish a single project. Bought a book the other day "Cute knits for baby feet" - has the cutest little socks you've ever seen in it. So hoping that will inspire me!

Ooooh I will look out for that! How far along are u? Cause in the beginning like up to 15 weeks I could face any knitting at all ! Getting back in to it now tho! Thank god I saw a Cardigan in mothercare plain white £12 ! I can knit 2 for £12- £14 !

I knitted barely anything for DS1 but have gone a bit crazy with DS2 - he's got more cardigans than he'll know what to do with!

I look forward to many years of knitting them matching jumpers Grin

By the way, I recommend 'Sock-ons' for keeping lovely hand-knitted socks on your baby's feet - DS1 has a distressing tendency to shed them as we go!!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 01/04/2012 07:27

Oh me! The count so far is one raglan cardie, a hooded cardie, a little tank top and one pair of bootees. There's another cardie in progress Grin.

Yes but by the time i've knitted 1 cardigan my mum presents me with 4 cardigans and 3 pairs of socks so i'm going to leave it to her Grin

Hotpotpie · 01/04/2012 15:14

Ive been crocheting if that counts? made some beautiful blankets including what I hope will be babies special blanket when its growing up its just a riot of super stripey colour :o

aimskidooo · 01/04/2012 15:29

I am, but I only do a good line in Plain squares. Have made a wonky blanket, but am consoling myself that the dodgy tension etc is fine and it'll make it super breathable. Am sure babies love breathable! In years to come, at least the bub will know I had a go!! Blush

I'm trying to learn. Mum, who has knitted since age 7, is trying to teach me but I'm awful. I want to be an expert!

I'm a knitter and would like to knit something for this baby, I just want to get the 20 week scan out of the way first. Superstitious? Probably.

Daisybell1 · 01/04/2012 18:16

I'm a keen knitter - dd is now 6 months old. I have a planned queue of projects waiting for her - next one is a sheep cardigan!

I'd recommend the Love Knitting for Baby mags - they're out every quarter and are about a fiver. They have lots of projects in them of varying difficulty, and some really nice things.

Another amateur knitter here :)

I have just got into it and am very proud that I have now knitted by little one a hat and a pair of scratch mits. I've got 'easy baby knits' by Claire Montgomerie, its pretty good for total beginners and gets you going with knitting actual clothes using simple methods; sometimes her wool choices are hard to get hold of but easily substituted for your own choice of colours.

Sarahmarie2505 · 01/04/2012 19:55

Fantastic ! I've made v neck raglan Cardigan , a bolero and matching beret, bunny bootees from "love to knit" Easter edition 2 teddies now on a blanket ! I like sirdar patterns as easy to follow and go up to age 7 also king cole as their quite unusual ! Using sirdar baby speckle yarn at the mo on my blanket it's nice to knit with. I've been knitting since I was 6 so trying to teach my eldest when I can .

Very amateur knitter here (have done loads of simple scarves for family), but too nervous to try anything more advanced. Have decided to make a blanket out of loads of squares and asked my mum last week about knitting other stuff - turns out that she's bought wool & patterns a little while ago, but hasn't got started yet. I'm 32 weeks today and hoping that Mum still has her speed knitting skills!!
