SICK of people telling me I am 'MASSIVE'!

I am 19wks today and a SICK of people telling me how HUGE I am!! I have a fair old bump and it's only my first but why do people think when you are pregnant it gives them the right to make comment! I was tiny before and have gained a fair bit of weight aside from the bump but really I just think it is so RUDE!!

Any other out there sick of this too? I need to think of a clever retort as it is making me so angry! I am having enough difficulty dealing with my newly curvy body without being reminded by people I hardly even know! Grrrrrrr

Yup. Im 18 weeks and had "are you sure your not further on?" "Is there definately only one" "god help you in a few months" "friggen hell you are HUGE" "its yur first, you normally cant tell til later"

Bla Bla Bla

Getting close to punching the next person who says it.

Im already a big lass my only saving grace was I didn't have a massive belly only fat bum and thighs, so Im finding it particularly hard to manage the comments as I'm self concious enough.

Although I did say infront of someone who is always commenting the other day that I thought it was great how when you are pregnant everyone thinks they can say what they like to you and its grand. I might start going about saying "bloody hell your hair is a mess!" "god you have put on weight" "isnt your skin awful?" see how they like it. Girl who was commenting all the time went red and cottoned on she was one of the ones I was talking about.

Clarabell78 · 29/03/2012 15:34

Ha ha ha - It's so annoying!! 'Are you sure you aren't having twins'? Was another one I got the other day along with 'Wow, you're fairly packing it on'! I mean really?!

I think I may just start crying next time - See how bad I can make them feel :o

signet2012 · 29/03/2012 15:35

I just say "yes I know Im huge, yes there is only one, no I am certain I am no further on" All in one breathe and they tend to shut up.

TimothyClaypoleLover · 29/03/2012 15:43

Haha love it signet about commenting on other people.

I too am sick of complete random people telling me how massive I am (34 weeks). Don't tend to reply but just go away feeling even more self conscious about my size.

Boysrstupid · 29/03/2012 15:47

I am 26+6 & have a fair old bump. I adore it. I am not a yummy mummy everything is rosy type, but I do love my bump and am more than happy to discuss with anybody who takes the time to notice.

I think people just like to pass comment and feel a bit involved. Try not to let it bother you too much, pregnancy is just the start of people passing judgements on you.

Cannot fooking abide the bastards that point out my pregnancy acne though. Now pass me the gun as they definitely need shooting Grin

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 29/03/2012 15:49

Yes, I'm 21wks and am quite a short/small person naturally, and everyone keeps telling me my bump is massive already... :)

How would they like it if I turned around and said - ooh yes, you've put on weight since the last time I saw you AND your stomach is huge...

Bah! Blush

RubyLovesMayMay · 29/03/2012 15:58

36 weeks with my second DC

OP the further you are along, the worse it gets. Cant believe are starting on you and you're only 19 weeks the bastards

This cow woman that lives by me keeps saying "I can't get over how big you are" "God you really are massive aren't you?"

What is the appropriate response to that like really?

I have the reverse, people commenting how I'm not showing at all - makes me feel like they think I'm faking it or something. I'm sure I'll be getting comments soon enough about how I must be starving the baby because I'm so small...

nearlymumofone · 29/03/2012 16:53

Ha. yes I'm 19 weeks too, and everyone has used the word MASSIVE to describe me. I'm getting a bit -pissed off- bored off it now to be honest. The other night I was out with people who ironically were massive (none of which were pregnant) though kept telling me I was.

I had all this last time with my first pregnancy- I did put on over 4.5 stone. everyone was commenting on how many cakes/pies etc I'd eaten, however I did lose all that weight pretty quickly after the birth.

Calamityboo · 29/03/2012 17:08

I had all this when pg with ds2 (now 2.6), I got all the usual 'my god you are huge' 'you sure aint more than one' etc, but to add to my misery I worked in a factory and the fellas there were relentless, asking if I wanted the loading bay doors opened so I could get in/out, or if I was walking down the factory they would shout for the forklift turning circle to be cleared so I could turn round to get back up the factory, I developed a pretty thck skin about it there! The one that made me pmsl, was my friend who asked whem my due dat was, I told her and she was Shock looked a bit worried and said I had better have it before then as I might just go pop.

I was fairly huge tbh, but in the end had a 10lb 3oz baby and only put 21 lb in weight on.

blondiep14 · 29/03/2012 18:57

Yes! And I'm only 15 weeks!
To be fair, I probably am quite big and DS2 was a 10lber so I expect I shall be elephantine again before I know it.

MiaRose85 · 29/03/2012 19:16

I can empathise I remember all to clearly what it was like I used to get it everyday from his parents, my family, some friends and people at work. It got that bad that I used to dread leaving the house and I wouldn't mind but my bump wasn't that big! Every time I went somewhere my blood used to boil before we even got there. I just wish people would keep their stupid opinions to themselves at the end of the day as beautiful as pregnancy is i found myself being very insecure and blame these ppl with too much to say for themselves!!

MiaRose85 · 29/03/2012 19:17

Forgot to mention baby weight 7lb and born two weeks overdue.

littlemissnormal · 29/03/2012 19:19

I don't mind the bump comments so much but one of my neighbours did say to me "yes I could tell you were pregnant as you've put on loads of weight on your chin and cheeks"!!!!!
Cheeky bitch!

realhousewifeofdevoncounty · 29/03/2012 19:19

Totally empathise with you op, it happened to me! But beware I started pretty much exactly the same thread when I was pg and got flamed and told I must have body image issues! Angry

Emsgale · 29/03/2012 19:20

im 38+5 and have had it all through arnt you massive, my god is it twins, wow you balloon when you pregnant, crikey you must be carrying alot of fluid in there oh and all over are your legs usually that big!!!!!!
yes im a size 16 on the bottom but im a 14 on top somtimes 12 so not small but im also short 5ft1 so its made me very very concious this pregnancy and im desperate to start weight watchers after this baby I feel like telling the people that say it how awfull it makes me feel how I could burst into tears that would shut them up!!!
iv kept much more active this time round as I have a 2yo dd and I was a size 18 when I got to the labour ward last time so I have tried much harder to be carefull this time!!
dam rude bloody people!!!

Calamityboo · 29/03/2012 19:21

Shock for you littlemiss. The worst one I have had though, was my elderly neighbour saw me last week, patted my tum and asked if I was pg! No, I'm not btw :( just fat

Catsycat · 29/03/2012 20:17

This afternoon the parcel courier delivering to my house asked me when the baby was due. I said the end of may, and she said "Oh, you're a big girl aren't you" Shock Angry

I just said I wasn't skinny to begin with (I'm usually a 16-18). I'm 32 weeks, and am wearing non-maternity size 16 leggings, and a non-maternity size 18 tunic top, I really haven't put much weight on, so it's quite insulting really!

There's a difference (and not a subtle one) between taking an interest and being bloody rude.

Loislane78 · 29/03/2012 20:24

Tell 'em all to rack off I say! You're growing a person and will be whatever size you want/need to be. If people are interested, why can't they just ask how you're feeling and tell you how great you look regardless. Eeeediots!

Calamityboo · 29/03/2012 21:06

There is always the good old mumsnet answer 'did you mean that to be as rude as it sounded' follow this up with a bloody good flounce out of there!!!

luckysocks · 29/03/2012 21:20

I get this a lot too!

My favourite so far was the little lady who works in the canteen, who asked me when I was due and when I told her (it was about 3 months away), her mouth went all round and she let out a little 'oh!' and stared with really wide eyes at my huge bump. She didn't even have to say anything, you could almost see the thought bubble above her head :)

On the other hand, my dad asks if I'm sure it's only one, with a god-I'm-just-HILARIOUS chuckle, Every Single Time he sees me. Yawn.....

LyraBelaqua · 29/03/2012 21:27

My poor sister was told by one lovely woman that she was the biggest pregnant woman she had ever seen!!! She the went to the dentist 3 months after the birth and the bloody dentist asked her when her baby was due!!! Poor girl was mortified on both occassions.

Dilligaf81 · 29/03/2012 21:27

Ive got 4 DC's and with each of them I got the same. They were all 10lb'ers but I put on 5 stone with DC 1 (started at 10 stone) so I was massive but with DD4 I only put on 2stone (started at 9 stone) so people will comment no matter what.
My personal bugbear was the "havent you got a tv" - to my shame some poor bloke said this to me in waitrose when I was a day off my due date with DC4, it was hot, my pelvis was ready to break, I had the other 3 DC's with me so I told him yes we have a massive tv with sky etc I just love sex!!!!!
That shut him up Grin
