Is anyone still going? I am 30 weeks and a few dog walks a day plus stuff around the house seems to be enough for me to get tired now but I don't want to lose my tone / fitness levels completely - what is everyone else doing ??

Dog walks, yoga and gym 4 times a week but all I tend to do is 40-60 mins on a cross trainer depending on how hot/tired/bored I get!

?????!!!!!!!!??????
Wow. I am impressed. If I had a dog I would be paying someone else to walk it by now! I can barely move.
Kudos to you for keeping fit but remember you will get tired more easily, don't overdo things.

Remember it's maintenance rather than development during pregnancy. You need to keep it at a pretty light intensity, as if you go too hard, the bloodflow will be prioritised to your working muscles rather than the baby.

I worked out until the day I had all my babies, you do need to be physically prepared for labour.

Garliccheesechips · 26/03/2012 11:38

I want to point out that many people reading this would not be able to work out for a variety of physical reasons; sickness, spd for example; and shouldn't feel bad if they are not at yoga three times a week.

capecath · 26/03/2012 13:29

Swimming! Amazing for pregnancy right the way through. I feel so light and normal in the water! Otherwise lots of walking with toddler in pushchair and a few extra short walking sessions on treadmill.

yes, I'm 31 weeks and still going to the gym. Went this morning and did 10-15 min walk each way there and back, then while there a 2k row, 10 minutes on the stepper, 15 minutes or so of resistance stuff and some stretching. I'm just taking it reasonably easy and trying to keep my fitness up without pushing myself too hard. Walking as much as possible and doing yoga as well.

Just go on how I feel. I was working out regularly before I got pregnant so I know when I'm pushing myself and when not. You'll know if you're working yourself too hard, your body will tell you. Just don't start throwing heavy weights around if you've never lifted before, things like that. It's mostly common sense, really.

I just acted like a beached whale (over ate and wasnt very mobile Blush throughout my last 2 pregnancies and afterwards regretted it a lot. It's taken a lot of time and effort to get back to my usual size and as a petite (read short arse) usual size 8 I'm determined I'm not going down that road this time. I'm still having personal training sessions twice a week and gym once or twice. I'm hoping light walking now the weathers nicer in the evening will be my main form of exercise when later on in preg.

Anyone recommend any pregnancy exercise DVDs?

*this is all hoping everything goes ok and I don't have a horrible time as I did last time.

blushingmare · 26/03/2012 17:55

I was running and cycling up until 29 weeks, but last week got a cold and was feeling grotty and this week I just feel more lazy.... Everything feels a bit harder and I feel like keeping up that level of exercise whilst still trying to work full time (and my job is relatively physical) might just exhaust me too much. That said, I work in a school and have school holidays coming up so am going to try to get into a bit of swimming over the hols and hopefully manage to keep that up til I pop - here's hoping!

littlemissnormal · 26/03/2012 17:56

I'm 33 weeks.
I also go off how I feel and stop if something doesn't feel right. This is my third pregnancy and I stopped exercise with the other 2 pretty much as soon as I found out. I have to honestly say that this time I feel much better, loads more energy than with the past 2!

janmk · 26/03/2012 17:56

I ended up going to the gym as I felt guilty! Just 30 mins tho !

My friend uses and recommends the Erin O'Brien DVD

I still go at 29 weeks. Get a few disapproving looks Hmm and just waiting for some old git to tell me I should be sat at home with my feet up. I think if I'm lucky enough to have no physical reason not to go, I should keep it up until I can no longer move.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 26/03/2012 20:19

I am 36 weeks and still go. Am looking forward to ML starting so I can go a little bit more. It's my 'down time'.
