When to tell the doctor?

Hello everyone,
So, I am 4 weeks pregnant, been doing tests regularly since Wednesday so I think after many, many faint lines appearing, I can finally admit this :)!

Just wondering when I should make an appointment with my doctor? Seems very early but I do have an underactive thyroid so am thinking I should let them know asap.

When did everyone else visit their doctor?

Thanks.

I saw my Dr yesterday & will be 6wks pg on Monday. It may take some time to see the MW depending where you live etc so prob best to get in the system as soon as possible iyswim.

I don't have any health issues & its DC2 after a straight forward pg with my DD, but in your shoes, it might be worth seeing your GP sooner rather than later, esp if there is a chance that you might not absorb all the nutrients as well from your food or to check your medication isn't contraindicated & so on.

Congratulations & good luck!!!

If you haven't had your thyroid checked recently you need a blood test ASAP so they have "baseline" levels to go on later when they think about adjusting your dose in pregnancy.
& make sure your midwife knows to include thyroid function tests along with your other routine bloods when they are done.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thanks for your quick replies. I've been very lucky with my doctors as I got my bloods checked in December as I advised them I was going to try to conceive.

I was just worried it was going to be a bit early but as you both say, it's best to 'get in the system'.

Thanks for the congratulations too - it's quite surreal at the minute!

Never too early.

I have had my thyroid medication increased immediately everytime I've been pregnant - the first trimester is the most important time for this. So I don't think it's ever too early to see your GP.
Good luck!

Yes, contact your Gp straight away (even phone appointment), they'll probably need to increase your thyroxine or refer you early.

I went to the doctor today and I'm 5+4wks. Will see the midwife at about 8 weeks. Congrats!!
