Hello, this is my 4th pregnancy and have 5y old ds.
Its been quite difficult already with bleeding throughout including quite a heavy bleed at 6 weeks.
I've been having a few pains so had a reassurance scan yesterday. They said i'm measuring at 12 weeks 2 days but are concerned about the amount of amniotic fluid I have, they put it in my notes and said it will be monitored. I asked if it can be a problem and was told it can be with regards to the baby developing correctly but they didn't explain anything else.
Now i'm worried sick, really thought this pregnancy was different and would happen. After looking on google it has scared me more and i'm so worried about whats going to happen.
I am seeing the midwife for the first time today so hopefully she will have more answers for me but just wondered if anyone else has been told this and whats been the outcome.
Thanks in advance.

Try not to panic - I know that is easier said than done! A reasonable number of women carry less amniotic fluid than usual throughout their pregnancies and have to have this monitored, but then baby turns out fine. It definitely doesn't mean that there is necessarily anything wrong. A 12 week scan shows considerably less information than a 20 week scan - it is possible that you'll have your 20 week scan and find that the fluid level is normal then. Some developmental conditions can be associated with low fluid level, which is why they monitor it, but even so the majority of women who carry less fluid than the norm will have a perfectly healthy baby. Please try not to worry too much. I hope your midwife is helpful and encouraging. I'm a GP who used to work in Obstetrics so my reassurance is based upon women that I have seen. Good luck with everything :)

Thank you for your reply, just got back from the midwife, she wasn't very helpful. She said it isn't something she can comment on as just a community midwife.
I should have my routine scan in the next 2 weeks at a different hospital so hoping to get a bit more information then. Think I need to step away from google in the mean time. Thanks for your help x
