Can the placenta move position during the last 10 weeks?

I have anterior placenta. and did with DD.

But recently I have gone lower, and also feel a lot more stronger movements, very frequently. I know this is probably because its a 2nd pregnancy.l but just wondered if the placenta can move as I was told that with anterior placenta - you dont feel that much? I did with DD and do this time, even more so this time.

Can a placenta move at all? I'm no expert but I would have thought not as it's attachted to the uterine wall. I might be talking total nonsense though!

I mean slightly in position. depending on the position of baby?
I know i find it hard to word how i mean. I may just have pregnancy brain. but found it odd when someone told me that haing a high anterior placenta normally means you dont feel much movement, butI felt loads wit DD and feel very strong frequent movements with DC2

I've been told the placenta can and does move throughout the pregnancy!

Yes a placenta can move, because the uterus expands. It's extremely common to have low lying placenta for the first 20 weeks, for example, then have it move away from the cervix as it gets bigger (this just happened to me so I speak from experience!)

Mine was low lying from 20 weeks. Rescanned at 33 weeks still low lying but 3.5cm away from cervix. Another rescan at 38 weeks and had moved (or baby moved it, not sure which) to 5.8cm away from cervix.

I recall researching it at the time & each hospital will have their own distance it needs to be in order to have a vaginal birth.

Luckily my hospital wanted it was 4cm away so they were happy it had moved (it just caused me problems after birth which resulted in surgery (retained placenta) ) which isn't linked Grin
