how important is a buggy thing that faces you?

to be honest, the whole buggy thing is doing my head in. I have decided pretty much to get a mountain buggy with carrycot, second hand on ebay (if the price is right).
it ticks my boxes i think, beach, uneven ground, good sturdy make....erm not sure what else, anyway just wondering if I have overlooked the baby facing you thing, and if I have is there a buggy that is similar to mb that faces you also? for some reason it bores both me and my dp to death looking, and we are really only getting it for the grandparents so thay can push wee one around, we will probably use sling for early days.
i just want a baby, not all the stuff!

Mountain nights are brilliant, I had one of the early ones 14 years ago.

I don't think the way your buggy faces has much to do with language delay.
DD1 was slow to talk, she's dyslexic and this is very common.
DD2 learnt to talk at the normal time.
Of course DD2 is now far quieter than her sisterGrin

Auto corrects pissed again! Night = buggy ??!!

I have twins and was concerned about language development too, but needed a robust 3 wheeler.
Not sure I needed to worry as my 2 fall asleep pretty much as soon as they start moving, in car, buggy, whatever, so its pretty much irrelevant!

Seriously if you want to go on a beach, a mountin buggy is the way to go.

After reading all this it really depends in your circumstances. If your child is going to spend a lot of time in the pushchair to the point that you need to use this time to teach them to interact and speak then parent facing is maybe the way to go. On the other hand, if you are using your pushchair a moderate amount, then maybe your dc would appreciate seeing something different in a forward facing buggy. Mine faced outwards from an early age and health professionals, educationalists and complete strangers comment on dd's advanced vocabulary. I think research gives parents food for thought but development is actually more about YOU and what you choose to do with your child.

It's good to have one which can go both ways. Pram attachment will typically face parent anyway. Once they get into seat attachment 4-5 months plus normally, then they often want to look out at the world. I love the bugaboo chameleon for this, snd it would cope on a beach too. If it's too pricey, consider second hand as they are incredibly hardy and wear extremely well. Mine is 2 years plus following extensive use and still as good as new.

I'd keep looking for a MB. I got mine for £35 on eBay (it is about ten years old and was FILTHY when I got it though!) and it's ace. I'd say a carrycot / sling will give your nb lots of parent facing time to make up for it.
