Polos and poo - stupid question (I hope)!

Hello, as the title suggests, I think this is probably a stupid and neurotic question so thank you for reading!

In my car there's a rag I use to clean the windscreen. A few weeks back I used it to clean off some bird poo and put it back in the inside door of the car and promptly forgot to throw it out.

I then bought a packet of Polos the other day and put them in the same place. I don't think they came into contact with the rag (and they were in their packaging) but they were there for about two weeks, during the course of which I ate them all. I didn't connect the two until a friend said about bird poo being really harmful in pregnancy when I remembered the rag and have been feeling panicked since.

Could I have ingested some of the poo? I suppose what I'm really worried about is toxoplasmosis, I'm only 6 weeks pregnant.

Hopefully you'll tell me I need to lighten up but all answers appreciated :-) We had a difficult experience last time around so I think that's probably why I'm being over cautious/over thinking things!

Thanks.

If they were in a packet, then it's not really possible they could have got contaminated. I think you are worrying unnecessarily and being over cautious. It's like a one in a zillion chance. During your pregnancy you are likely to get exposed to lots of things, and eat the ('apparently') "wrong thing" by accident at some point. If you worry about it all you are going to go mental. If all this stuff was so very dangerous then women would never manage to have children, ESP not in poor countries. The best you can do is not deliberately expose your self to stuff, but really try not to worry so much. Btw - I have eaten practically everything on e supposedly banned list of foods, plus had stomach bugs and all sorts as sometimandy oh just do get these things for germs on public transport and being near other young children, and none of it has ever caused any problems with my pregnancies.

Thank you both, you're telling me what I need to hear. I shall try and pull myself together and get a grip Smile
