I am 11 weeks and had my booking appt yesterday with the midwife, since then I just feel like I want to start buying things and getting ready for the baby. I don't mean the really big things like cot and pushchair etc, but everything else... When did everyone else start buying things??

23+5 haven't bought anything yet but am probably unusual. This is ivf pg after 2 losses one at 13w, don't want to jinx it.
I would say normally after 20w scan is reasonable.
I bought mat clothes after 16w scan.

I bough things after my 20 week scan, i would wait until you have had your first scan at least when you know everything is fine.

With DS1 I ordered baby vests the day I got my BFP Blush but left all the big stuff til after 20 week scan but only because I wanted to know the gender first.

I bought nothing at all-superstitious Smile but I know friends started after the 20 week scan but really it's whenever you feel ready. I needed maternity clothes after the 20 weeks scan also so if expense is a issue factor those in. Congratulations

superstitions...

my husband does not allow me to buy anything until the baby is in my arms...

for DS1, I was lucky enough to have my sister to lend me some baby cloths and pram, my husband went to buy cot the same day and it was delivered the following day (mothercare), DS1 slept his first night in the pram :)

second pg, 20week today, I don't know when to buy the pram because this time around the leadtime is longer... but will try to borrow from friends moses basket, carseat and starting to blow the whistle now...

It's got later everytime for me Grin

With DD i started after the 12 week scan with ds it was after he was born ( at 27w!)

This time ( i'm 13w) I have no intention of buying anything untill 36w and then it'll only be moses baskes and a couple of packs of babygros & vests. If it's prem again then I wont need anything till term anyway.

There is absolutly no need to buy a ton of stuff, babies don't need anything beyond boobs, clothes and somewhere to sleep.

I bought my pram at about 10wks because it was an unbelievable eBay bargain that I couldnt pass up. Then spent 2.5wks panicking that I'd jinxed the PG before the scan.

Didnt buy anything else until about 26/27 weeks maybe?

We bought a teddy at 8 weeks (practical souls we are...) we wanted to buy something for baby and decided that even if we lost the baby then we'd want something to remember our first (long awaited) pregnancy by.

I'm now 21 weeks and we haven't bought anything else yet though we are starting to look more seriously. My mum has picked up a pack of plain sleepsuits for us and they are so cute and practical.

I'd imagine that we'll get buying more actively after 24 weeks. I know what cot I want to get and am waiting until Mothercare have it back in stock (hopefully they will do before the baby is born). My mum also has lots of stuff at hers, like big toys/bouncers etc that we wouldn't have space for here because my sister produced their first grandchild last year - I'm sure baby will think they are going to an indoor play area when they visit granny.

I didn't really buy anything until I was about 6 months - partly superstition, partly becuase I felt totally overwhelmed by how much I might need and how much it would cost and how much choice there was. I went to a Nearly New Sale (actually volunteered to help put things out, so I got to see everything and shop in the presale) which I found brilliant because it was so inexpensive and the reduction in choice made it manageable and I got a huge number of the big things (cot, change table etc). After that I bought a few things here and there - once I'd started I found it hard to stop!

I am coming up to 25 weeks and not brought anything. This is my second though and with DD I think I started buying the odd thing at 12 weeks and bigger items once I was 20 weeks, I had everything organised with two months left to go.

This time it is partially superstition, but also we really don't need much maybe a few new babygros, most of the stuff we need is for our older DD as she will be getting a new bedroom which needs furniture/decorating etc.
