Have huge disfiguring vulval varicose veins..sorry if TMI but they run from above pubic hair line right into (internally and externally) my you-know-what. Am 36 weeks & getting v worried about pushing this baby out & tearing badly. Am in lots of pain now with them & can't imagine how sore I'll be after delivery! Any one else ever experience a delivery with these. Have had 2 fast labours (4 & 2 hours) & therefore no epidural. Hoping for my first water birth this time.

What has your midwife said?

Jellybellyrbest · 11/03/2012 19:17

Mostly 'Oooh, yes look at those"!!!!!!. The last one who saw them was the only one who made me less worried. Said she'd seen ones like that before & I may bleed more but should be able to deliver normally. It's the pain I'm getting anxious about, at the crowning stage! Ooowwww! Sometimes I think that MW/Cons really only concerned with getting baby out, not leaving mum in one piece!!

Jelly just wanted to sympathise, I'm 39 weeks (eek!) and am also concerned about how they will effect my labour. I went for a big poo (sorry if TMI) yesterday and they were really hurting. So much so I found it hard to push and that really worried me.

My mw seems unconcerned though.

I didn't have them last time around. These babies are sent to try us!

Snap Marathon! I keep thinking "if a poo hurts this much HOW will I cope in labour!". And yes, feel like MW (& the Regs/Consultant) are v blasé about them. I've never had this before either, so no experience.... Obviously you'll be going through it before me, so my thoughts are with you. I really hope it's ok & the MW are all blasé because there really is no need for us to worry!

Jellybelly - At least crowning doesn't usually last more than a few seconds... and at that point you're on tenderhooks (tenterhooks?) about the fact your baby is imminent anyway - at least I was! :)

Try not to worry. Chances are you will be absolutely fine!
