Am a regular poster but am not up for being identified.

I am well into my 40s, no sign of anything vaguely menopausal and have always had fairly regular 28 day cycle. I don't take note of when period due as I get PMS quite badly, and always live in hope that if I don't know when it's due, then perhaps I'll bypass the PMS. I also don't know when my last period was, but it was certainly well over a week before 8th Jan.

Dh and I use condoms but got a bit carried away early this month (8th Jan to be exact) and had a bit of rumpy-pumpy before using one, but only for couple of minutes before seeing sense and using one. I know that it's still possible (but unlikely?) to get pregnant that easily ??

I haven't had any PMS symptoms this month, and also no sign whatsoever of impending period which, at best, has to be at least 7 days overdue minimum.

I take Dothiepin (dosulepin - an anti-depressant) daily which, according to leaflet in packet, is not recommended when you're pregnant as not enough is known about effects. I have also had to take Voltarol (diclofenac potassium - an anti-inflammatory) this month. Information here says not to take when pregnant (can cause deformities). So now I'm shit scared about the whole thing. I still have to take the Dothiepin tonight.

Dh is being lovely, but even he doesn't know how scared I am about this. He said we can buy a test in the morning - but is it really too early to be doing a pregnancy test? Should I be ringing doctor? Yes, I probably should, I know - but am I going to get laughed out of the surgery because this really is too early?

I so need someone to give me some advice here if they possibly can, even if it's to tell me I'm getting worked up over nothing.

Just in case anyone is vaguely interested - I have been to see GP for non-related problem and, obviously, mentioned the now very very very late period etc. I'd done a second pregnancy test (there were 2 in the box anyway), still negative.

So, it could be official. I could be Starting The Menopause!!! Yay! Apparently, my body's way to starting might be to have a period every other month. Anything to be difficult, that's me. There's been no hint of PMS, so I can definitely cope with this! I've told dh that everything is going to shrivel up now.
