Anyone else in their first trimester & waking up ragingly hungry in the middle of the night? Without fail every morning between 2-3. It's doing my head in! I've been having a light snack before going to bed, but doesn't seem to be doing much!

I'm 39 weeks and have had this throughout the whole of my pregnancy. I have a big bowl of meusli before bed and then if I still wake up I just get up and have some toast or cereal. I know some people who kept biscuits or cereal bars by the bed for night time snacks but I would just end up with tons of crumbs in the bed if I did that, might be worth it though if you are a tidier eater then me :)

PopcornMouseInBoots · 08/03/2012 13:24

Yes me too, and if I don't eat I feel nauseas! I try and eat something like fruit in the night, as it seems to do the trick and not be too heavy (so it won't keep me awake - I'm also suffering with indigestion big time)

MrsHoarder · 08/03/2012 13:42

I am ok if I remember my cereal and bannana right before bed. Try just having a bigger snack before you go to bed.

Thanks ladies, I'll give those suggestions a go, although I think keeping biscuits by my bed would be just a slippery slope! Having said that, mmm custard creams...

I had a mug of warm milk each time I got up. DH could tell how many times I'd been up from how many mugs were on the benchtop. ;)

gigglewizz · 08/03/2012 15:10

ooh, I had this last night, wide awake at like 4am with the moon shining in the window and wanted to raid the fridge! I'll try some of the healthy suggestions! I am going to try banana and yogurt if it doesn't make me feel sick before bed...

oikopolis · 08/03/2012 16:44

Def keep something by the bed. Grapes would be good, easy to digest. You're not getting hungry for nothing, you need to eat!

I was the same from BFP till 8 weeks, then nausea struck. A friend of mine had a midnight snack every night until she gave birth (and she is not the size of a house!)

justhayley · 08/03/2012 22:56

Iv started to get this at 32 weeks. I now keep a big mug of milk an a banana by my bed - easy to fill u up until breakfast an saves u wakin up properly to go to the kitchen - I now eat with my eyes still closed at 4am Grin

TashPenguin · 08/03/2012 23:21

I'm getting that and if i try and ignore it i can't sleep, and then i feel really nauseous, i'm having cereal bars or yogurt as its all i can stomach at that time of night.

scarletforya · 09/03/2012 00:35

I had this for the first few months. I started bringing bananas to bed each night to save me the trek downstairs.

confuzed90 · 09/03/2012 08:06

justhaley lol I laughed at your post, I can actually imagine being asleep and laying there eating a banana lol. Made me chuckle, I am getting hungry at night to though, 33+2, I don't satisfy my needs though and just pig out when I wake up. As if I eat or drink anything then I get really bad indigestion :(

VikingLady · 09/03/2012 08:53

I found milk and/or cheese right before bed really helped. Am 39w now and still getting through a pint of milk before bed each night.
