Bump dropped and reduced movement.

I am 32 weeks pregnant and for thr past few days I have noticed that my bump has dropped and seems to go through stages when it is rock hard. It also looks smaller than it was. I don't think my waters have gone although I am unsure if they are leaking a little. There are days when I seem quite wet down there (Sorry if that's a little TMI). Also there are days when there appears to be al ot of weight in my pelvis and well my vaginia.

I have also noticed that baby seems to be moving a lot less at the moment and have wondered if there is anything to worry about, although people say that this is normal as the baby has less room to move in.

What do people think this is, is it the early signs of labour? xx

Probably not the first signs of labour. Your baby's head may have dropped into your pelvis ready for giving birth and that is why the signs of movement have reduced.

Your midwife will be able to give you more information at your next appointment

Thanks mrspunt I just thought it seemed a little early for a first baby to drop at this point. xx

I don't necessarily think the fact that your bump has dropped is anything to worry about. I'd ring your midwife in the morning though about the movements, they'll probably want you to pop into the hospital so that they can put you on a monitor for an hour or so to trace baby's heart rate and see if you have any contractions.

If you're concerned, ring before then, you won't regret making sure everything is ok xx

I should have also said that when you get bigger, you don't feel the movements so much as baby has less room to move.

The hardening of your bump sounds like Braxton Hicks and the dropping could well be baby starting to engage- first babies typically engage earlier than in subsequent pregnancies. I would be a little concerned if baby is moving less than usual, so i would contact your midwife tomorrow, or tonight if you're concerned it really doesn't feel right, but as for the rest, I'd just say later pregnancy stuff not imminent labour.

Good luck!

Thanks madaboutmadmen I can make baby wriggle if I drink something sugary and after a large meal.

Although my bump has dropped and it has worried me a little it is nice to be able to breath again. xx

Any reductions in movement should be checked out!

I think it's normal for you to feel extra weight in the pelvis/vagina

however, if you are concerned that you may be leaking and if movement is reduced I honestly would speak to your midwife.
it may well just be that baby has less room, but it's better to get checked out if you're concerned.
a midwife would much rather see a mum/baby who are fine than miss a baby that isn't.

Thank you all. Baby has started to wriggle far more today (especially at 4am this morning. i spoke to the MW and she advised that baby will drop early and saty there.

xx

Good to hear Yummymummy!
I wouldn't worry about the hard bump either- I've had that a lot, it seems that some people get frequent BH and others don't. They bother me less now that I'm used to them - just make sure you're well hydrated.
