Bored and feeling stressed out

I am 33+4 pregnant with my first baby

The nursery hasn't even been started yet (although everything is just about ordered and paid for).

My partner is decorating next week and trying to get things ready

However, I am feeling so bored, anxious and helpless that when i'm not at work i'm just sat at home bored stiff

I am not the type of person who can sit in al day, relaxing and chilling out watching tv etc.

My partner stays up late almost every night and is therefore in bed until at least lunch time most days - as I am up at 7 it means hours on end of sitting on my own being bored

What can I do, I feel like ive researched so much about pregnancy and cleaned everything a million times just to keep myself busy

Anyone else felt like this?

I'd take the chance to go out and do stuff you will find difficult when lo arrives... walks, matinees, visit friends, bake, flog spare rubbish on ebay, stock up freezer with cooked meals which you will be very grateful for once baby arrives! Can you start prepping for the decorating? sanding stuff, stripping easy reach areas etc?

Anxiety isn't helped by inactivity, can you get creative on what to do with your time - get out of the house more? :)

I started my mat leave at 36 weeks and made a list of things to do to keep me occupied. (I'm 13 days overdue now and if I spend another day sat on my arse I'll go insane. So my list included things like.....

For me :- go swimming every other day, go on some more adventurous dog walks, clothes shopping, get my hair cut and coloured, minx pedicure, go to the cinema

For baby:- chase up pram and collect, keep on top of dusting/hoovering babies room, wash and organise all their clothes, pack hospital bag properly, write up birth plan, finish off some artwork I'd started for their room

For the house:- batch cook & fill freezer, bake some cakes, deep clean bathroom&kitchen so just have to keep on top of it, clean out the car, learn how to use car seat

How come you can't go out? What about the cinema? I feel a bit like this at 37 weeks, but more frustrated because i cant walk far due to spd and sacroiliac joint pain. I'm also quite anaemic so just very tired atm, but then again i have 2 other small children to keep me entertained. When do you start maternity leave?

Beachcombergirl · 03/03/2012 13:22

I feel for you. I am 27 weeks and have spent every spare weekend for the past 12 weeks on DIY (house was in dire need of renovation). Partner and I have an obvious deadline and it's really wearing me down. Spent all morning with sandpaper in hand and tears down my face. Just totally fed up. Would love to pay for someone to do all of this work and instead go shopping/cinema/swimming/manicure/weekend break etc but have zero cash and a house in a mess. Feel really sorry for myself and can't even relax with a couple of glasses of wine at the end of a hard days work. Sorry rant over. Just wanted to let toy know you aren't alone feeling fed up!

My maternity leave starts 23rd March so have some time yet, at least work will keep me occupied during the week

Suppose, its just me being bored in my own company

Partner wont let me do a thing around the house which i very frustrating as I like to keep busy and feel like i'm doing my bit

Skint beyond words as ive spent all my cash on baby things

I know things will be manic when baby is here but i' actually looking forward to being that busy

Suppose I could do more cooking and sort my cothes out for the tenth time haha, TV and sitting down just isn't working for me

I need to take dogs out more so that would probably help as well

Coincidence ap! I'm 33 weeks and 6 days, finish work on 23rd too! My husband is working every hour at the mo too and I'm missing him but unlike you I have lots to do around the home just can't do them. We have a 10 month old so she keeps me busy plus at the mo I have a chest infection so am feeling extra sorry for myself!

Bigteadrinker · 03/03/2012 14:55

Ap1984, please can you send your husband round here, he sounds great! Hope he is the same when babe arrives! Not too sure about the staying in bed till lunchtime though. I cant believe I'm about to say this, but I think you need to tell him pregnancy is not an illness and that you can carry on as before pretty much albeit at a slower pace. The next few weeks will go by quickly honest. Xx
