Excessive movements at 32 weeks

Hi , This is my third baby and I'm 41 so obviously have some anxiety ...but after initially suffering with hyperemisis , I've sailed through. Now at this stage I'm worried about movements, after a week of it slowing down which I put down to the fact the midwife said the baby was back to back and that it may have been establishing a sleeping pattern. The last 24 hours have been bizarre I've had up to 20 kicks every hour since GP a/natal appointment at 9.30 this morning. After reading up I've very confused- some mothers sayings it normal and other posts stating could be a sign of distress ??
Is there anyone who can shed some light...if baby is distressed is the optimal fetal position I could try to help ??
Thanks

I don't know enough to say much, other than if you are AT ALL worried trust your instincts and ring your labour ward for advice and afaik lying on your left side for an hour and resting is supposed to be good?

Change of movements this late on means a call to the labour ward I would say. Give them a bell and I'm sure they will do a trace for you.

Just to agree really with the other advice, trust your instincts and get seem to as soon as you can. Always better to be reassured

How are things this morning? Hope their ok.

Woke up at 3.30am with lots of movements ...did a few chores and I went back to sleep. Up again at 8 - movements steady and didn't start up again until 9 ish. Wriggly constantly and after reading above comments ( thank you all) I contacted the delivery suite and spoke to a midwife. She did not seem worried and has asked me to monitor movements for next few hours and that they are closed ??!! and would want me to come in unnessarily (?)...I've decided to keep a record of kicks for next three hours then will call them back .

How are things now? Could your baby have moved position so you're just feeling the movements more, or do you know it's not that?

My community midwife called later in the day as a follow-up to my call to the hospital. Unfortunately I had gone for a snooze and she spoke to hubby. She reassured him that excessive movement was not to cause alarm bells and that a decrease in movement was a more worrying sign. She also reiterated if I remained worried to go into to the hospital to be checked out. The movement are not as vigorous after my sleep in fact took at least 3 hours after I woke for baby to start rolling and kicking again. Did read online that there could be a peak in strength of kicks around 32 weeks for some mums to be. I can only think that baby has changed positions and that this is the new norm for me to get used to. I'm making sure I'm hydrated as I do struggle to find water palatable and not deliberately tapping tummy if no movements as this could be a sleep time for baby. Have a scheduled antenatal with a GP Fri again so this may shed some light on position of baby.

All settling in to a wriggling pattern for an hour then rest periods....assuming it baby has changed position...
Thank you to all

I had this around that time too, I was at work, sat texting my friend who has just had a baby. We just put it down to being one of them days, and the baby was just getting very comfy in there. But even now, I have days where the baby is quite and others where it will move a bit more.

Thanks Zay04, it's all a bit daunting when you have a change in pattern . You forget that baby's movements are not always consistent ..
