Hi

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant. I have a history of premature labour and birth at 34 weeks, which was only 10 months ago. I had a EMCS so my scar is still raw. For this reason my Dr has booked me a c section for 5th april a day before my due date if i dont labour before naturally. I REALLY want a VBAC this time so wondered if i could ask my midwife for a sweep at 38 weeksif nothing has happened before....
The other things is, my baby has been fully engaged for 3 weeks now and i am struggling to cope with the pressure and pain plus a 10 month old.
She is still waking in the night ALOT due to teething and getting up and out of bed isnt doing my back any favours...plus the 100 trips to the loo every night. :(
I am just feeling very down now and dont know how much longer i can wait for this baby to arrive and the thought of another c section with the recovery time plus a 10 month old DOES NOT sound appealing to me at all!!
Can any one help or give me some advice....

Thanks
x

My mw advised me they won't sweep till you are over by a week now, when I had dd it was on your due date.

riamay lovely, if your waters are leaking then you need to let your midwife know as there is a risk that your womb (and therefore baby) may be open to infection. Usually they will give you a timeframe within which they'll want contractions to start (about 24hours after your waters started leaking), & if no sign of labour by then they may want you to go to hospital for a CS. Usually the doctors don't like to risk induction of labour after a CS.

YOu poor old thing, it must be exhausting having such a little baby & being about to give birth again? I hope you have someone to give you a lot of help around the house after the baby gets here?

missismac My understanding is that riamay's MW (and the consultant) are aware of the issue with her waters, which is how they know it is the hind waters leaking, and that is why they have given the date for CS already.
