Bleeding @ 12 weeks? Help!

hi, I'm 12 weeks by last period date but 10 weeks according to my temp charting. Not had a scan yet so not really sure of actual dates. I bled onto the tissue when I wiped last night and since loo stops have had red-brown bleeding with one pea sized lump of thick blood, again quite dark! I've been to hospital today but they couldn't fit me in for a scan and so have to rest and return tomo pm. Could anyone enlighten me on the bleeding situation form personal experiences please? Also can you tell from one scan if you will loose the foetus? Any help advice will be much appreciated please x

Had a big bright red bleed at 14 weeks with DS (threatened MC), but all was fine. He's a strapping 3 year old now.

Subsequently I have had 3 missed MCs around the 12 weeks mark, one had a small amount of spotting, but the other two had none.

I suppose what I'm saying is, there's no way of knowing until a scan. LOTS of women have spotting and/or bleeding and the pregnancy continues ok.

I know that's not much help, and the waiting is horrid. Try and relax, I hope it goes well at scan tomorrow.

Bleeding in a miscarriage usually starts after the foetus dies apparently so if you see a heartbeat at the scan its definitely a good sign that you're not having a miscarriage. Although don't be alarmed if they put "threatened miscarriage" on your notes. It's just a term they give to any bleeding.

I had a massive bleed - gush all over the floor - at 12 weeks. It continued like a heavy (but painless) period for two days. They found a haematoma on the scan which was causing the bleeding. I've had on and off briwn bloos when I wipe now for weeks. (im 16 weeks now) the scans are showing that the clot is getting smaller so hopefully its good news.

So basically, not all bleeding is bad news. Let us know how it goes at the scan x

Like the two posters above me have said - there is no way of knowing more until you have the scan. But blood on its own is not a clear sign of a mc. Try and take your mind off it and be nice to yourself until your scan tomorrow.

I had a full week-long red period when I was 13-14 weeks pregnant in my first pregnancy. Of course I was panicked and went to hospital for scan which showed heartbeat and healthy baby.

DS is now 2 years old and as fit as a fiddle Grin

Aww thanks girls for your good news stories, the more I read from women who have had bleeding shows that majority of bleeding is just normal and natural! I know I won't be able to know fully for a few weeks but your words have given more hope and courage. Thank you all very very much for sharing yours stories with me. Will definitely let you know how I get on xxx

any news?

Cheekychops29 · 02/03/2012 17:05

Hi ladies, unfortunately babe didn't grow past 6-7 weeks and the sack was the only visible thing in the womb, therefore sonographer says it's an inevitable miscarriage unfortunately. Still bleeding, and more now so I think it's on the way, fingers crossed it's not painful and over quickly! DP and i have just got to pick ourselves up and try again as soon as possible! When the time and conditions are right it will work out, I'm just not very patient doh! Best wishes ladies x

Ps for those who knew me from the oct 2012 thead, I'm not going to publish this on there as I know it makes some other ladies upset and worry about themselves unnecessarily. I'd rather them read this post if they want to fond out x

I'm so sorry Cheeky. I've been there, I know how you're feeling. FWIW I miscarried naturally one of my MMCs, and it was ok, I mean not the best experience of my life but not as awful as I'd feared. Stock up on full strength ibuprofen, massive pads and all the forbidden food and drink you fancy - I used to have a Gruyere and Pate fest, washed down with my fave Sauv Blanc.

All the best, I wish you happiness in the future. You WILL get through this x

Midgetm · 02/03/2012 17:40

cheeky so sorry. I know how it feels. Your attitude is amazing. Your time will come. Be nice to yourself, let yourself wail then dust yourself down and start all over again. You are also said to be more fertile after a MC. Big hugs x

Bubblebell1 · 02/03/2012 18:31

cheeky just wanted to say how sorry I am. Thinking of you and sending lots of {hugs}

Cheekychops29 · 02/03/2012 20:54

Aww thanks girls, big hugs back! I feel fine at the moment so all is ok. Had a mcdonalds, chocolate, proper strong coffee and now on the wine, dp has been amazing and going to start all over again the first bfn roll on about three weeks xxx
