Hi All
Probably stressing about nothing but how do you know if you are leaking fluid rather than just the usual, and many changing types of discharge suring pregnancy?

I am 26 weeks and noticed when I got to work that my knickers were quite wet (have asked someone to get me some liners). I am having to put loo roll in there as at work and not hear a shop (have asked someone to get me some liners). Have checked twice more over course of two hours, putting new tissue in each time and loo roll was damp but not soaked through. Am I just being paranoid?

PS Sorry for mistakes and repetition, should have checked before I posted:).

Give the pad a sniff - it's not uncommon to leak a bit of wee, or to have extra discharge during pregnancy - amniotic fluid smells very neutral, not unpleasant and slightly sweet. Have a word with your MW, if you are leaking amniotic fluid (which is not that likely) then you will need to see a Doctor.

Thanks Beamur, I did have a sniff (the things you do when pregnant!), and could detect no smell. Will keep an eye on it for the next few hours as really don't want to bother midwife if I am just overreacting about nothing.

bother the midwife! thats what shes there for!

if it was wee you would know it, you know what that smells like!?

normal discharge is kinda /creamy/slimy, yeah?... If its just wet like water then you may have a hind water leak, its not likely and dont panic, but speak to the midwife and let her check! she will just get you to cough while looking up there and then she will know as she will/wont see some come out your cervix as you cough.

always better to be on the safe side :)

Absolutely - speak to your midwife, she will not mind.
