Question - does a very active baby before birth = non-sleeping baby when born

Stupid question maybe... I am 38 wks pregant and baby is moving constantly. Whilst this is reassuring in some ways I do wonder if this will continue after birth and I will have a hyper baby? Your thoughts/experience as always would be appreciated!

Sadly, I think you need to assume it won't sleep, and then your little angel can be a glorious surprise as it slumbers beautifully for 8 hours a night.

Mine, by contrast...

My DS was so wriggly none stop till 38 wks when he stopped (thank god he was wriggly otherwise I would never of known there was anything wrong)as was in distress (no reasons at all). He was born by emergancy C section and had to spend time in Special Care but now at 14 months he's doing well and has always been a fantastic sleeper and slept from 7-7 from 11 weeks old and now he somtimes dosn't wake till 8.30 and has always been happy to play with his teddys after waking and every morning we here him chatting away in his cot.

When i was pregnant with my DS, he was quiet most of the day and hectic at night,he used to boot his dad in the back. When he was born this continued (not the kicking) he would sleep all day and be awake most of the night, the MW suggested we keep him awake all day, which was a bit cruel at times, and thn he returned to 'normal' sleep patterns (watever they are????) within a few days. it was bliss.

My son was so active he'd done the 'ten movements per day' by about 5am most days. I could feel him kicking almost all the way through labour, MW said it was a bit unusual. All the old ones in my family reckon the fact he kicked so much brought the labour on at 35 weeks. Spent the first 3 months of his life awake wriggling and screaming about 21 hours out of 24. He's ok now though...
