Really sorry am sure there have been similar posts but am in a bit of a blind panic

I am 7w 5d

I went for an early scan last week (due to continuous pain in right side) and scan was positive in that heartbeat detected and all growing in the right place. However I was told I had subchronionic haematoma. I hadn't experienced any bleeding so this came as a surprise. I was told not to worry as it is quite common.

But today I have had bad cramping in my right side and lower tummy. Also a dull back pain. I have been bleeding - brownish and pinkish (but not red). Sorry if this is TMI, but it is quite gloopy.

Am terrified this is a miscarriage. How would I know what one felt like and "looked like?".

Is there a chance this could be ok and this is old blood?

Any does anyone know of I can just take myself back to early scan unit tomorrow morning or do I need referral?

Sorry for all the questions, have tried so long to conceive and am in a major panic.

Similar experiences - good or bad - would help me get my head around this

I had bleeding as a result of a haematoma. First time was a massive gush of red blood that continued like a heavy period for two days. The second time was three weeks of brown gunk when I wiped.

Both times I had mild bad ache and stomach ache. I.think the blood irritates the uterus and causes the aching. The second time round they weren't that fussed about brown blood because its old blood.

Call the maternity assessment number on your notes and they'll tell you whether or not to go via a&e (which is a big old pain in the bum) or whether you can go direct to epu.

Hope it all goes well!

I also had haematoma and successful pregnancy, bleeding much as pickle describes. I think of it like a blood blister - so you don't see the blood straight after - it's old blood that you could be seeing now. I was also having uterine ctx but still didn't lose baby. Seeing hb is a really big positive. Speak to mw and hopefully they can sort out scan (altho I always bled after them too)

Thank you do much for your replies. Have suddenly started bleeding a lot - very fresh, watery red blood. Am fearing the worst. If I miscarry will it be obvious to me?

I will definitely ring doctor first thing for referral to epu, just not sure what to expect in the night.
And should I take anything to make the pain go away so I can sleep? Or just bear it so I can feel what's happening?

My first lot of bleeding was bright red and heavier than a period. I was screaming like a loon. Went to a&e and they sent me to epu. They seemed really non plussed. Found a heartbeat and sent me on my way.

At that point they hadn't found the haematoma so I had no idea what was causing it. At least you know that you have one and bleeding is not entirely unexpected (although its horrible and terrifying off course) so hopefully its a bit of a relief.

Try and get some sleep. I know that's probably going to be really hard. Will have everything crossed for you.

I have had this in my first pregnancy. I lost a lot of bright red blood at just over 12 weeks after showing a synchronic haematoma at my 12 week scan 2 hours previously. It was accompanied by mild period pain. A and e told me we had lost our baby but to go to epu the next day. Got scanned the next day and the baby was fine!!! My dd is now 6 1/2.

I have also miscarried at 7 weeks and it was brown blood at first then went on to be red blood a few days later. The pain was mild period pain to start with then became increasing as the bleeding got worse.

That's obviously just my personal experience but with 2 very different outcomes but if you can get straight into the epu rather than go through a. & e I would definitley try.

Hope everything works out ok for you xx

Mine was exactly as Pickle describes, at 8-9 weeks in my case.

Our 2 1/2 year old twin boys (the result of that pregnancy) are currently sleeping upstairs.

Wishing you all the very best of luck xxx

I am at the clinic now.
Scan confirms I miscarried. Now waiting to see a doctor because there is still some there (as it were). Feel desperate. Dp is abroad. Just can't believe this has happened. Want to ask them to check again to be sure and want to scream
