Hello,

I'n my first pregnancy I had GD and I'm ashamed to say I didn't really follow any sort of plan, I thought I'd be okay just not eating sweets, desserts etc and ended up having a very large baby.

I'm newly pregnant again and I want to start eating right from the off so that when it comes to meeting with a midwife / diabetic nurse I can just tell them the things I have been eating, and hopefully show willing, and do it right this time.

(My DD is very healthy and had no problems at birth, but she was over 10lbs and I feel extremely guilty.)

My problem is, I need a set menu, to stick to, even if its a variation of the same three meals a day. But I'm really allergic to nuts and seeds so all wholemeal, granary etc, plus snacking on nuts and seeds is out. Same with things like muesli. Please someone help me put a diet plan together? Without all the seeded stuff would it just be like being on atkins?

Ideally, I just need to know meals I can eat. And obviously I will excercise.

Thanks in advance for any help... I really appreciate it and will be sending DH out to sainsburys shortly :)

I was diagnosed at 34 weeks.
Do you have a blood sugar monitor? That will help you give you an idea of what can send your sugar levels crazy.
I have found really cutting down on white carbs has helped. So I am trying to go for a veggie omlette for breakfast, or if I don't have time a cereal bar and yoghurt. Lunch I usually have a salad, or something that is more protein than carbs (one example this week was a chicken in lime sauce with rice, but not having my usual mountain of rice). For dinner, salads, soups, a slice or two of bread, or something again with lots of protein.
My biggest problem is carbs are a total comfort and convenience food for me- I would just fill up on bread or breakfast cereal or something like that.
Feel free to PM me if you want any more info :)
