Im 14 weeks pregnant and also have a really itchy rash down my back, legs and little patches on stomach. I went to the walk in medical centre last week as i was concerned and they told me it was a viral infection and to go back if it didnt clear up.

I would go get it checked to keep your mind at ease.

My friends SIL suffered from this.

www.patient.co.uk/health/Obstetric-Cholestasis.htm

but I think this condition is for itching that doesn't go away.

AceOfBase · 25/02/2012 10:02

Obstetric cholestasis is usually worst in hands and feet palms and soles. Had it twice and it feels like crawling under your skin almost. And there is no rash

I had a rash in my last pregnancy that I checked out with the midwife, and she said they are quite common and my skin had just become more sensitive. I used sudocrem on it and it went away at some point. Probably worth getting checked out, but may be nothing.

If it is obstetric cholestasis there is an excellent website and support group at: www.ocsupport.org.uk which includes tips to manage the itching
I had it with DD
But I think AceOfBase is right - there isn't usually a rash.
Hope you feel better soon

MarynotBeSarcastic · 01/03/2012 19:27

Ace of Base is right, no rash with OC, and its mainly on palms of hands/soles of feet. Could it be PUPPPS if not OC?

mememummy · 01/03/2012 19:36

The rash only lasted a few hours I'll pop on to that web site and have a look x

If you're still itching really badly, there are antihistamines you can take in pg, especially as you are so far on now. You could see if your GP can prescribe you some to stop the itch - otherwise you might flay your skin off with scratching eventually - it's hard enough being pg without being so uncomfortable. Have you tried Aloe Gel (you can buy it at Holland & Barratt) on the itchy bits?

Hope it sorts itself out soon.
