Question about movement

Am 35+4 and until about a week ago baby would be very active pretty much 24/7 but recently she's had a few quieter days. I can nearly always get her moving with a poke and a prod and she still has active periods but it's not constant like it used to be. I think i'm still getting the 10 movements a day recommended by the count the kicks campaign but I don't know how concerned I should be.
Anyone?

Your baby will be developing sleep and wakeful periods.
The count the kicks campaign encourages you to learn what is normal for your baby not to rely on an arbitrary number iyswim
10 movements a day doesn't sound like a lot and if you are worried I would phone your midwife to get a check

that's a chart you can use to learn your own babies pattern. Personally, I am 41wks and I know that's the baby will move most at breakfast lunch dinner and around 11pm. I can also stimulate the baby to move by drinking ice cold water

Why wait a week rather than contacting your midwife?

Well you're worrying me now. My bump goes for a few days without moving at all and then can get a day of mayhem in there. Is that not normal then?

I find it can depend on how active I've been myself and if I've been sitting a lot or walking (yesterday after a long-ish walk baby was quite active, think I'd lulled it to sleep whilst walking and then they woke up!). And I definitely notice more activity after dinner and at about 10pm. Not so much in the morning.

If I feel like I haven't felt much movement I go and lie down for a bit and make sure I can count 10 kicks in 2 hours (that's what they tell people to check for here, I'm in the US, do whatever you've been advised). I think often I'm just busy and don't notice.

Movement does change through pregnancy. As mentioned above the baby develops sleep and wakeful periods and the type of movement changes too as baby has less space to move.

No midwife will ever be upset with you for ringing them to ask advice so give them a call.

Thanks, I spoke to a mw who said that because I had felt the baby move today to just keep an eye and gave me some things to do to try and get her moving. Typically since calling its like she's been having a party in there. Flipping kids.
