O.K. so I am 30 weeks and rather large but if one more person looks at me in surprise and makes the joke, "Are you sure you're not having twins", I won't be responsible for my own actions!

There. I feel a lot better now.

Yep, I am 37 weeks pg and have been receiving that comment for the past 17 weeks! I love the way people reckon they are really witty when they say it as if they are the first person to have ever thought of the phrase.

I'm just getting sick of "Oooh not long now then".... it might not seem long to them, but we'll chuck a big weight on their front and see how long a month seems then!

He - he. Lol all of you.

Yes, it is odd, isn't it, belgianbun. They also feel they have a right to touch your stomach in ways they wouldn't if you weren't pregnant. That doesn't bother me so much unless they are strangers but some of my pg friends feel like it's such an invasion of personal space.

I've ranted about bump touching so much that my poor mum is scared to go near it I don't think she's felt this baby wriggle

Yes last time a collegue (who I must say I do not like!!) walked into my office and said Oh my god you are hugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the most tactful thing to say to a hormonal pregnant woman.

SHHHH · 28/01/2006 17:12

I agree with the touching of your tummy. Family did it to me without a 2nd thought. I hated it so much and would boil with rage. I dropped hints that I hated it and felt it was a personal thing to do but noone seemed to take on board my comments. I didn't have the guts to say it any louder .

Do I go around touching their tummies..??????

Simplyred · 28/01/2006 20:15

I had people asking if I was expecting an elephant - because I was enormous and seemed to have been pregnant for ever!!!

I patted someone's stomach back once, and asked when he was due. Most satisfying.

I used to get people saying "ooh, you're tiny, is it ok?". Umm, yeah, thanks for that, most reassuring! I used to tell them it was because I was so fit (not!) and go and have another choccie biccie.

No one ever dared touch my tummy. Clearly I gave off scary vibes... .

I did get the twins, enormous, etc., comments. But then looking back at the photos I was chuffing huge, and DS on his own weighed in at more than some sets of twins I know, so I can't really complain (annoying at the time though, particularly the umpteenth time in one day).
