Foot pain pregnancy

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and have really bad pain in my left foot-so much so that I've been hobbling around and struggling to walk today. It's all along the top and down the sides of my foot. I haven't sprained it or anything so i'm assuming it's pregnancy related. My feet did weird things in my last pregnancy as they grew from size 6.5 to 8 and never went back, but I thought that was much later on.

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this and if there's anything I can do about it. Will a doctor laugh at me I just hop along and say 'my foot hurts' and tell me to go home and have a paracetamol? I have to do a lot of walking between home / son's nursery / train station / work and am just worried I'll really struggle to do this if it gets worse.

Hi lemontop, I realise that you posted about this ages ago but I'm experiencing the same thing! Am 29wks + 1.

Did you ever find out what was up with it? I just woke up with this and it hurts!!

I've had pain in my heels and ankles for about ten weeks now, I'm 30+2. I saw a chiropodist and she said it sounds like policemans heel-if you google it you will get the proper term, it's placia something, I haven't found anything to relieve it other than not being on my feet and then they throb/ache rather than hurt. It feels like I've been working on my feet all day when in reality I walk to work which is twenty minutes and then sit down all day!! It's also worse first thing in the morning

I'm 31+5 and haven't been able to weight bear on my feet for a few months. I have extreme pain across the top and sides of both feet, which has gradually got worse and worse. My gp has now prescribed Co-Codamol, and if I go out I need a wheelchair.

I have to hold on to things to get around the house, can't get in the shower/bath without help either Sad

I have something called plantar fascitis which sounds similar to you Susieloo? The doctor prescribed anti-inflammatories but they didn't really help long term - the main thing that helped to be honest was buying some fitflop boots and getting some insoles for my normal shoes. Flat shoes with no support are not good for wearing all day.

I also did regular stretching which helped, particularly before getting out of bed - things like flexing your foot and stretching your calf muscles. Try googling.

I've just dug out my only-for-late-pregnancy pair of crocs, which are supremely ugly but have actually made my foot feel better! I found a tip elsewhere on the interweb suggesting that they give superior foot support and help with planar fascitis.

mcphee that sounds really crap, I'm sorry for you :(

Yes that's it hiding!! I did briefly look online at what I can do to help myself, interesting about calf stretches because my calf muscles are really tight so I wonder if it's linked, sorry your having such a horrible time McPhee it sounds awful

I've been told it should get better once baby is born, but for some reason I'm not convinced. It's my first pregnancy, and tbh I've not really been able to enjoy it. Crying just to get around is starting to drag me down.

I'll be glad when it's all over Sad
