I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy at 5 weeks due to pain in the right side. (Devastated as 1st pregnancy :-( )

Was monitored closely and had the metho jab and my levels dropped really well, eventually to 0 today.

Throughout this whole process I have had lots of discomfort and pain that the doctors do not seem to be worried about. I am in lots of discomfort today and the doctors just dismissed it.

Is this pain normal? What could it be?

On my last scan 1 week ago there still was a 2cm "mass" in my tube. Again the doctors do not seem to be interested in this.

Any suggestions or experience would be gratefully received!

Thanks

I also lost my first pregnancy and tube to a ruptured ectopic... and was going to recommend the ectopic pregnancy trust, too. They supported me so much through grieving for my pregnancy, and also through subsequent pregnancies when I was terrified. I have my left fallopian tube and a working right ovary - I am now pregnant with number 4, all naturally conceived, so there is hope after EP.

The website is [www.ectopic.org here]

Thank you both. I have just been to the site and its fantastic!

Also great to hear about your future pregnancies. I can't wait to be strong enough to try again!

Thanks - Katty

Katty, it can take a while to get to the point of feeling strong enough again. I honestly believe you can't rush it and need to give yourself time to heal physically and emotionally. You need to leave 3 months at the very least before you try again after methotrexate.

I hope you find the EPT boards useful, I don't post there very often (although might pop by now to say hello!) but the ladies are very supportive and understanding. The helpline is amazing - really helps to talk to a 'real' person at the end of the phone.

Good luck in your recovery x

Just wanted to add to the support Katty. I also suffered a ruptured ectopic last summer and had to have a tube removed. I lost a lot of blood and was ill for quite a while. If I could give you any advice, it would be try not to push yourself too much too early, either physically or emotionally. It was only when I started to feel stronger physically that I began to deal with all the sad emotions. I found the EPT site really informative and helped me understand what had happened to me. Being a bit of a control freak, I wanted to find out reasons why it happened and how I could avoid it again. I had to learn to just let go and sometimes, there are no reasons.
If you are still in pain and discomfort, please keep going back. Does your hospital have an early pregnancy unit? I was in contact directly with mine instead of going through my doctor. Do not put up with anything that feels 'wrong' and do not think you are fussing. This is your body and your life.
I managed to fall pregnant again within three months of my ectopic and am currently 21weeks. As the other ladies have also said, there is plenty of hope for the future.
