I had acupuncture on Thursday night, started getting tightenings on Friday morning, saw a VERY excited mw on Friday afternoon who gave me the stretch and sweep of my life as in - "you're 1cm........ now you're 2cms....... and now you're 3cms!" She also said baby would come "tonight or tomorrow". So we packed the children off to Granny's and got walking.

Lots of crampy pains and some decent contractions on Saturday - then a lovely big show. Stopped at night... Started again on Sunday... stopped at night. Now I haven't had a bloody thing all day!

Just bored and moany really. I thought being my 3rd it'd go a)quicker, and b)something like the other two!

And I am dreading the school run 'what? you haven't had it yet?' comments tomorrow.

41 weeks today

I feel for you, I really do! This last bit I find the most frustrating. I was induced at 40+11 with DD, currently 36+2 with DC2 and I know I'll be posting something similar to this in about 4.5 weeks Smile
Realistically there's not much you can do now, apart from wait Brew

McQueasy · 19/02/2012 20:30

Oh phlossie, u and me both!! Except I'm
Just over due with no contractions
Not even a twinge :(
Utterly fed up :( :( :(

phlossie · 19/02/2012 20:33

Hello McQueasy

Wait and whinge, Daydreamdolly - I was induced at 40+10 with DS and had DD at 40+11, so I always expected to go over. Just don't want to be induced again. And the stop-start thing is annoying!

Luckily I have Him and Her DVDs to keep me going!!

Whinging is your prerogative now phlossie, whinge away!

Know what you mean re induction, I'm really hoping to avoid it this time too, think that adds pressure doesn't it. Do your health trust leave you til 40+14? I feel they induced me too quickly last time.

On the plus side, you are already 3cms, and the stop start bit, although frustrating as hell, may mean that when the show gets underway, it'll be nice and quick Grin

Have a Wine , and a whine.

phlossie · 19/02/2012 21:47

That's what I'm hoping! And we have a bottle of fizz in the fridge...

I'm in Bristol where they let you go over that far if you're ok, but I had a lack of fluid at my 40+8/9 check, so was booked to be induced both times - luckily the second time I was already in labour.

I'm having a shiatsu treatment tomorrow morning and another sweep at lunchtime! FX...

phlossie I'm with you, will be 41 weeks tomorrow and my little body is getting tired of all of this carrying the baby around. I'm going to see the MW on Wednesday for a sweep and if that doesn't work, I'll be induced at 41 and a half weeks. At the hospital that I go to they no longer allow women to wait until 42 weeks, I've been told that they've had "bad results" by doing that.
I'm hoping that the new moon will bring LO tomorrow :)

McQueasy · 20/02/2012 10:39

Morning ladies!!
Still here and still waiting :(
Had a cracking sleep last night, but still knackered this morning. Just holding on till ds 2 goes for his nap, am bloody exhausted!!!
No twinges, baby still too comfy :(
Roll on wed!!

DaydreamDolly · 20/02/2012 12:48

Phlossie how did you get on this lunchtime? Did you have another sweep? What's the situation? Am hoping for a live birth thread here! Smile

phlossie · 20/02/2012 14:33

Hello. I had a Shiatsu treatment this morning, which was lush, then I went and swam a few lengths and the had a stretch & sweep, which was very uncomfortable. I was no more dilated than on Friday though. I'm actually feeling very fed-up and uncharacteristically tearful now - I've had enough of talking/thinking about it constantly. Sad

Like you, McQueasy, I have had a couple of really good nights' sleep - which I'm hoping is my body's way of getting ready for the birth.

If not, I'm booked for my 40+10 assessment at hospital on Wednesday - they'll monitor baby's heartbeat, scan me and give me another s&s. And then I guess I'll be induced on Thursday.

Off now to pick DD up from pre-school. I'm going to take her for a walk to the shops and get myself the lardiest doughnut I can find!

40+8...

Labour vibes to you McQueasy Smile

Fuchzia · 21/02/2012 11:18

Can I join in for a moan? Due on Thursday, but terrified about being overdue. Last time I was Induced at 40+10 With DS who was 10lbs. Pretty tramatic, i want to avoid it happening again. Booked in for a sweep tomorrow but convinced I can never go into labour naturally :(

justhayley · 21/02/2012 11:31

Anyone on here got any babies yet?

Flisspaps · 21/02/2012 11:36

Two things ladies :)

Firstly - you're not actually 'overdue' until you're past 42 weeks as normal pregnancy is between 37 and 42 weeks.

Secondly - there is no 'they will LET me go x days overdue'. If you have no medical need for induction then it is not something you have to do because that's when the hospital suggest it. It is entirely your decision as to whether or not you accept the offer of induction at however many days your trust offer it, or whether you choose to accept expectant management and wait for baby to come in it's own good time :)

Best of luck phlossie Grin

phlossie · 21/02/2012 14:04

I had medical reasons - both times my fluid levels were low @ 40+8/9.

It's the constant 'haven't you had that baby yet?' comments that make it so wearing - not the being pregnant. I've also found stop/start pains difficult to cope with, especially when you have older children to sort out.

ANYWAY - 40+9, and having some lovely contractions! Lost a lot of show and possibly a trickle of waters. They're not very regular - sometimes 4 mins, sometimes 8 or 10... but they're pretty painful!

I'll keep you posted xx

MiauMau so what do the hospital do with women who refuse induction, and who are well within their rights to do so? Refuse care? Refuse expectant management? Force them in against their will and stick them on a synto drip? NICE guidelines state it's the woman's decision and that her decision is to be respected so I don't see how they CAN tell women that they don't let women go to 42 weeks - quite simply, it isn't the hospital's decision to make! It makes me cross that women are lied to.

ZhenThereWereTwo · 21/02/2012 16:19

Go Phlossie!!! Hope this is it now :)

MiauMau · 21/02/2012 17:30

Flisspaps I really don't know! I think that hospitals in general play with women's feelings of insecurity especially when it's a first birth or when they've had previous difficult births. At this point in time, I feel like I've hit a brick wall body wise as I feel really tired.
Had contractions every 15-20 minutes from 3am until 7am, then they've stopped and started again around 3pm and been somewhere between 8 and 15 minutes.

Flisspaps · 21/02/2012 20:19

Fingers crossed for you too then Miau Grin

DaydreamDolly · 21/02/2012 20:31

Phlossie I hope things have progressed nicely for you!
I am planning to refuse induction if I'm in that position again and my consultant is happy to support me in that as long as we are monitored and doing ok Smile Am hoping I won't get that far this time though!
