Hi,

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow. I noticed a brown discharge today. I'm home alone with toddler until DH gets back later.

Is this normal or not? I am very worried. I didn't have anything like this in my previous pregnancy.

thanks

hi ready i had this at 22 weeks. a bit of brown and then a few days later some pink and then about 5 days later some pink. my normal discharge went darker for a while too. bundled myself off to docs with glass of wee and two pairs of knickers to show doctor - nice - told me nothing to worry about. best to ask though as it gives you peace of mind. it was a young man so embarassed!

Hi. Thanks both for the posts. I am not sure I'm cut out to be a mother, I'm such a worrier. Wouodn't have it any other way though, my wee boy is an angel!

I kept my knickers too surfmama but when I went to see the doctor I decided not to take them as when I asked my husband to look he declined my offer :-)

Update
Anyway, I called midwife and she said to pop up to the clinic to get checked out. It was really a tiny amount of blood but enough to scare me, and I also had some very mild period pains, so thought it best to go. They did an internal exam and said cervix was closed and long (long being a good thing I am guessing :)). They then did a scan and checked the placenta was intact and close to the cervix and to check for blood clots etc. All was fine. So I'm glad I went.

The doctor said that the cervix is fragile during pregnancy, so this wee bit of blood was nothing to worry about. But he was very kind and didn't make me feel bad for going.

My toddler was unwell yesterday so I was carrying him a lot, so maybe this just put a strain on everything...

Anyway, I just wanted to post an update to reassure others. But like QTPie said the best course of action is to call the midwife and follow their advice.
