Is there anything that I could buy or request as a gift that might make life as a first time mum just a little bit easier?

Stretchy wrap sling and a breastfeeding cushion (another vote for My Brest Friend here).

Agree with the posters saying this thread is wonderful - I have added it to my 'watch' list and will be checking back regularly throughout the coming months :)

SuiGeneris do you have a sling recommendation?

runlolarun10 · 25/02/2012 10:24

Yes, totally agree MrsLister and GwenGotLost - everyone's responses have been so helpful. Another big Thanks from me to all who have posted. I'm sure those first couple of months will be a breeze now...Wink

a sling

Re: slings, we use the Close stretchy ring sling, which is a wrap style. Have only used inward facing hold so far as my baby is just 3 months old, but will be trying forward facing soon and hip carry later on. I can feed pretty easily in the sling too and it was great for getting stuff done round the house in the early days when he was having a clingy day.

YY to Baby Bjorns being not as supportive. Baby dangles from the crotch rather than being supported under the legs in a sitting position.

Consort: yes. I have an Italian one from quarantasettimane.it which is made of soft jersey, washes beautifully and is ready to be worn (no creases) when it comes out of the tumble-dryer. I have looked for a similar one here to give to a friend and thought the Calin Bleu stretchy wrap might work, but I did not order it in the end,so am not sure.

If you look in the product reviews section here you'll find pictures and my review: sorry I cannot post the link right now...

Isofix base and travel system, so car seat just popped into wheels was our best purchase. So handy, saves any faffing about with belts and great that you don't have to disturb sleeping baby when putting them into pram.

(providing u use a car that is)
