early pregnancy spotting - what can I do at the weekend?

Hi, I had a missed miscarriage in November and have been desperately trying for another baby since then. I've been spotting since my period was due a week ago, but thought that my period was just a bit crazy. Today I did a pregnancy test and it came up positive!! Smile but now I'm freaking out because of the spotting. There was even a couple of hours of bleeding on Monday.

So what can I do at the weekend? EPAU is closed (though when I had the MMC, it was definitely staffed over the weekend) I don't have any cramps yet. I just can't relax.

If you can wait till Monday then stay relaxed and wait.

If not, call the EPAU?

Fwiw I had loads of spotting in early pregnancy.

Good luck

Hi there, thanks for your message. I just called the EPAU, they said to come in to A&E. Part of me wants to go and DO something, but part of me knows it's probably too early to tell much - they can see if the cervix is open I suppose and if it's ectopic. After the last MMC, I know that no spotting can mean disaster, really I have no control over what happens, I have to just wait and see. It's not easy to relax though!

I had some first and second pregnancies; first one I called emergency doctor and he said 'Im afraid if it is a miscarriage there's not much we can do.'

Second time I mentioned to doc at registration around 8 weeks and she was concerned and arranged early scan.

So perhaps just take it easy and see doctor on Monday about early scan. First doc was right though to an extent, but spotting is quite common and necessarily mean the worst. I always got mine when my period would have been due. Scan with DD1 showed sub-chorionic (I think) haemorrhage but both pregnancies progressed with no issues.

Good luck!

'...won't necessarily mean the worst'
