It's very very early days but I've just found out that I am pregnant with DC2! DS1 is 12 months.

I loved my first pregnancy! I had no problems at all (not even sickness) and apart from tiredness for the first 14 weeks I felt amazing.

But will it be the same this time? How different were your pregnancies?

I am 9.5 weeks into my second pregnancy and so far it couldn't be more different.

First time round barely a symptom. Sailed through. Bloomed I think the term is!

It's only early with dc2 but so far I have been hospitalised with hyperemesis. I have shit hair and skin. I'm constantly tired. Has very low blood pressure and generally feel like shit!

That's what I get for thinking pregnancy was easy!Grin

Congratulations! Im currently pregnant with dc2, 14+6 and it has been completely different to my 1st pregnancy.
My 1st pregnancy was so easy like yours I loved it, fastforward 5 1/2 years to this one and it could not be more different. I felt sick from 5 weeks but was never actually sick, I had flu all over xmas, I have had some type of cold ever since then and am constantly tired every single day! However now I am feeling alot better just have a slight snuffly nose but still feel so tired but hoping that will pass soon Grin
Dont worry though everyone always says every pregnancy is different and it must be true, I just hope my tiredness goes soon for a while so I can have a bit more energy.

I'm 28wks with dc2 and so far pretty much the same although feeling much tireder as have a 2.9yo to run waddle after Smile and spd started much earlier in this pg (15wks v 28wks last time). On the plus side felt movement much earlier (15wks v 20wks). I had a Ds first time and according to the scan it's a Ds again and I have heard that you tend to have similar pgs if it's same sex - but no idea how accurate that is!

Congrats on your pg Smile

This is what I'm worried about! I'm only 4.2 and not even due to get my period until Monday but I've been so tired this week. I don't remember the tiredness kicking in until 6/7 weeks last time.

I'm also more worried about things going wrong this time. I think it's probably because I've spoken to so many more women about pregnancy since the last one.

DD1 - pregnancy a breeze, no morning sickness, usual tiredness. Before DD2 I had 2MCs, so although my pregnancy was straightforward and pretty much the same as DD1 I just worried the whole way through it and didn't enjoy it at all.

I'm very early into second pregnancy (6+3!) and so far, sickness and tiredness are worst, but that may have something to do with my 15mo not sleeping through the night....Hmm

DameFlatYouLent · 17/02/2012 20:05

*worse

DS was a problem free pregnancy except for thrush but he was a difficult, 36 hour birth. DD caused DW at least five months of morning sickness and generalised early pregnancy malaise but birth was done and dusted with nothing but Entonox in six hours......

Think you will feel more tired second time around with a DC to look after..... you can't rest in the same way as when it's one's first....

bouncychair · 17/02/2012 20:11

DS1 has decided to sleep through the night this week and he is also still having two sleeps a day so I'm hoping he keeps this up for the next 8 weeks to get me through the firs trimester!!

DP is also amazing and will get up with him in the morning when he can to let me sleep in.

First pregnancy I felt amazing despite SPD from 5 months rendering me unable to walk any distance. My hair was glossy, my skin dewy and clothes that didn't suit me when I wasn't pregnant suddenly looked so much better on me. I didn't feel or think I looked particularly fat, although I'm normally a size 16-18 and everyone told me I was blooming. I also felt very special.

Roll on two years and it was a very different story. I felt sick pretty much forthe whole 9 months, I caught virus after virus, my skin became crepey and although my SPD wasn't as bad second time round, I still found it much harder to look after my supremely active and demanding ds whilst working part time too. The only reason we found out the sex of dd at the second scan was for me to feel a bit more of a bond as I hadn't had any time to think of the baby, not like I did first time round. Knowing dd was a girl helped me feel a little more connected to her whilst chasing after my errant ds all the time!

MandaHugNKiss · 17/02/2012 20:50

First pregnancy, DD, very sick/dizzy tired nearly all the way through - was 2 stone lighter the day after giving birth than when I fell pregnant (having started at a healthy bmi - ended up skin and bone!).

Second pregnancy, DS1, a single moment of feeling queasy when on a bus! Felt great! However, I was hospitalised several times with bleeds (turned out I had placenta previa that finally cleared at 36 weeks).

So, yeah, very, very different!

SausageSmuggler · 17/02/2012 21:09

Firstly congratulations!

My two pregnancies have been really different. With DS I had daily sickness for about 7 weeks, chronic back pain and developed gestational diabetes. I'm now 34 weeks with a DD and had 2 weeks of mild nausea, horrendous mood swings, SPD and no diabetes. Strangely I've been more paranoid this pregnancy than I was first time around. The only thing that's been the same is how I've carried them. I'm all bump and boobs but from behind you can't tell I'm pregnant. Only saying that because they say you carry differently depending on the sex of the baby.

not much different at all. boy and girl...
