Hi everyone!

I know there's nothing I can do about this, but I am 12 weeks and have hyperemesis and feel really pants! The Dr has signed me off work for 4 weeks (I'm 2 weeks in) which is good so that's one less thing to worry about and she gave me anti-sickness pills. I just feel so miserable!

Has anyone else had this or going through this?

Thanks :)

Hi frilly, didn't want to read and run! I had hyperemesis until well into my 20w's and yes, it absolutely sucks Sad. I remember being in hysterical tears one night as I tried to eat my 400th dinner of toast and saying that I just couldn't do it any more and thinking to myself that DC1 was going to be my only child!

But the thing is, it does get better, even if you don't meet the deadlines people talk about (again, I was beside myself when things didn't get better at 14w). Try not to work yourself up about it, though that is hard, and definitely don't stress about what you are and aren't eating. Your baby is certainly fine. Also try and do something that makes you feel a little better, whether its watching a movie or doing your nails. Don't stress about housework or anything either! Just get plenty of rest as this will help you feel better. And if you are happy to be medicated then don't feel you need to give up the tablets - I took mine for the entire 9 months!

It's a very small minority of women who feel as bad for their entire pregnancy, so I am sure you will start feeling better soon. But until then come here to moan about it, and also find the hyperemesis thread for support, and try not to get too worked up about it. I now have a little bruiser of a 3 week old who is absolutely fine despite my constant puking and the anti-emetics I took - and as a small bonus, I am already back to my pre-pregnancy weight and clothes thanks to not ballooning in the first trimester, so there is a little light at the end of the tunnel! Wink

Thanks Bella and congratulations on your new arrival! I keep telling myself it'll get better, even if that's once I've given birth...it just seems a long way away!

It is nice to know its not just me and I found the support group, thanks :)
