Does 1st trimester insomnia make a come back?

Hiya I'm 29 + 3 weeks, during the first trimester my sleeping patterns were all over the place, and in general I would wake up between 4.15-5am for no apparent reason and not be able to go back to sleep.
In the last few days iv noticed the same thing happening. (nothing to do with needing a wee or being uncomfortable). I am really stressed at work at the moment, and when I'm stressed it tends to effect my sleep, so it could be that.
Anyone no if crazy sleep patterns make a
comeback in the 3rd trimester, or it is just time for me to leave work and commit myself to 10 weeks of day time tv?

Thanks
Hayley xx

Same has always been true for me I'm afraid, similar times anywhere between 3am-5am I wonder if its mother natures way of preparing us for the sleepless nights once our babies are here! Hmm

I am exp DC4 in 7 weeks one of my best 'counting sheep' tricks is to choose a boys and a girls name that I would actually consider using (makes it a bit more challenging) and work my way through the alphabet.

I find it helps me stop thinking about all the other stuff going on, but is actually boring enough to help me drop off! And if that doesn't work, I get up for 20 mins have a warm drink then try again!

Although, if you are very stressed at work that cant be helping, and if you have the opportunity to start mat leave I would take it! Grin

Yes, oh yes. I'm 40 weeks today and haven't had a proper sleep since Christmas, so I'm actually considering myself lucky as many loads of people suffer from insomnia throughout their pregnancy yawn

Never had it for e first trimester, but for the third it is here with avengance as it was with DC1. So annoying. Just wish I could sleep but constantly wake at 4.30.

I seem to have been sleeping fairly crappily all the way through, although looking back I think the first part of the second trimester was better. Am now 29 wks and seem to wake up roughly every 45 minutes!

Oh yes. I have been having insomnia again since about 30 weeks. I also tend to wake up about 5ish. I find eating something straight before bed (I am currently into meusli) helps and if that doesn't stop me waking up and not being able to get back to sleep getting up and having a slice of toast does the job.

I suspect that I am just very food focused at the moment and can't seem to go more then a few hours without eating :o

Bummer I was afraid you were all going to say that!
It's so annoying I don't mind waking up if I need the toilet, a drink, am being kicked in the ribs (by baby not DP lol) but when I'm just wide awake knowing I'll have to up in a few hours for work it really irritates me. I'm now at work totally exhausted and can not function!
I didn't do well with 1st trimester exhaustion - I'm grumpy & emotional when sleepy, not looking forward to feeling like that again!
I love mother nature but think she has this one wrong - surely if we are all rested before the baby comes it will be easier for us to deal with all those night feeds! Not impressed! Sorry rant over - see told you I was miserable when sleepy lol

I'm 31 weeks and waking up at 5am or earlier on a regular basis. I usually get up and have a wee just for something to do...I usually find I'm very hot when I wake up and stick my feet out of the duvet to try and cool down.

We have big problems due to the lack of space in bed (normal size double, 6ft DH, me with big pregnancy pillow) and poor DH's sleep suffers as a result too. We don't have space in the bedroom or the money to upgrade to a bigger bed size!

We just had a week away in a cottage (last pre-baby holiday) and had the most huge, comfortable bed with lovely squidgy feather quilt...I usually sleep even worse in an unfamiliar bed than I do in my own, so I'd been worrying about how much sleep I'd get, but we both slept brilliantly. (Still waking up in the night but so much easier to get back to sleep in that bed).

Now back home and wishing I was still in the holiday cottage!
I am going to buy a mini reading light so I can hopefully read a few pages of a book without disturbing DH. Not sure what else I can do!

Feeling sorry for DP. I'm now on maternity leave so, I always have the alternative to rest for as long as I want now, but he has to go to work. Saying that, I'm unable to stay in bed as everything aches :(
