Back to back babies - how easy to turn?

Morning all!!

Just been for my 31 week check up, i'm 31+4

My little girl is measuring ok, she's head down but she is also back to back - oh no!

So i'm on a mission to turn her round now, going to get my gym ball tonight to sit on, it's my own fault because i slouch a lot and lie on my bed to watch the tele so i need to sit upright all the time now, i'm already leaning a bit forward at my desk like a mad woman lol

I was just wondering how easy it is to turn a back to back baby?

both my boys were back to back, i didn't know you could turn them!!
i knew one was back to back around 36 weeks as i had a scan but they didn't say anything about turning then!
Had two very 'normal' delieveries, pushing stage was longer though as it was harder to get the head to 'go round the bend' but aside from that it was fine! Mind you i don't know any different!
Good luck with turning them though, mine is caused from a tilted uterus apparently so it's likely that the next one will be too... would be interesting to see if you manage to turn it and how! :)

I had my first antenatal class last week and the midwife was talking about sitting on your ball as you tend to lean forward so the baby's weight does and they tend to turn the right way, but if you slouch a lot their weight will lean backwards and they will turn into your back!

When they told me she was back to back I said oh I'd better get my gym ball and she said yes definitely which makes me think I could swivel her round?

I've got my 34 weeks appt 3 weeks today so I'll see what I can do between now and then, they've said she's back to back because her heartbeat was muffled I've not had a scan to confirm x

Got my 34 week appt 3 weeks today so I'll

Good OP turning techniques:

Leaning on birth ball whilst kneeling.

Sitting straddling a chair leaning towards the back of the chair.

Sitting forward with knees lower than hips (if you sit towards the front of your work chair so that you can feel your pelvic bones underneath you with feet flat on the floor that should help).

Sweeping floor on hands and knees.

Sitting with soles of feet together on floor leaning forward slightly (not cross legged).

No sitting back on sofa or lying with feet up propped up on bed as that encourages OP position.

Not too much driving as seats encourage OP, but you can buy seat pads that fit on car seat that will tilt you forward, you can also get these pads for office chairs too.

At 31 weeks you have plenty of fluid and time so baby should turn easily so long as you do all you can to encourage her

DD3 was back to back until the day she was born. When the contractions started I went for a long walk with DH, wearing my tens machine, and could actually see her turn. She spent about 10 hours getting into the right position, but quickly "got on with it" when she finally was.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend the long walk though. We got to about a mile from home when we realised neither of us had a mobile on us, and DD2 had come in under 2 hours start to finish. Blush
