Ah it nothing serious just waiting for the midwife to call me for my 8-10 week initial appointment! This is my first baby and I'm so excited just want to know when stuff happens and at what stages......scans antenatal etc etc. Can't believe they call me and I couldn't just book haha
I know my other half will come to scans and stuff but does he need to come to initial app? What DoD everyone else do? Also what happens at this first app?? Excited much haha :)

Congrats. Now breathe!
Booking in appts can be a bit underwhelming so don't be disappointed. Here the mw comes to your house (to check you don't live in a crack den I think), asks a load of fairly basic questions, then nothing until your 12 week scan. No need for partners to be there until the first scan really.
Strongly recommend getting a pregnancy week by week book if you want to keep track. Other than that, take folic acid, eat as sensibly as you can, and enjoy!

DH wanted to come to my booking appointment (which was at 10 week) but i told him it wouldn't be worth his while taking the time off work. I was sent my green notes through the post and was asked to fill in as much of the personal stuff in advance. (Name, next of kin, mine and DH medical history etc etc) then this was just gone through again at the appointment. They took my BP, checked my urine and took lots of blood samples. All in all i was probably about half an hour. At that appointment they gave me the phone number for the hospital and said I had to ring up to book my scan (either just a dating OR a dating and nuchal). We just had a dating scan that me DH came too when I was 11+3.

DH has come to 1 other anti natal mw check appointments since but that was only cos he was off work anyway. But he is glad that he hasn't took time off especially for them, as they only last 5 minutes! Literally in and out, as they only check BP, urine, babies heart beat and measure your bump.

Congratulations!

My DH came to my booking-in appointment with me (at doctor's surgery), although it really wasn't neccessary as it's mostly admin and form-filling! But if he wants to feel like part of things I think it's nice for him to come along when it's not too inconvenient.

Same as Melliebobs really for my first appointment too, fill in forms, get BP and urine checked, have blood taken, get given a load of forms. Not very exciting and you may feel like it's a bit of an anticlimax!

She just called - booked in for Saturday which surprised me, was preparing to take time from work for appointment. Will see how he feels about it :) I think because I havent told many people being able to be open with the midwife and stuff will be a relief, will feel like im getting somewhere :)

Exciting isn't it. Smile I'm at the end but remember it well.

My booking-in was women only - mentioned it in the letter. My DP was a bit miffed but it made sense after the appointment as the midwife had questions to ask about domestic violence and vulnerability in that area. Having said that, I've transferred my care during my pregnancy and they asked nothing about this at my new booking in appointment so I guess it depends from area to area.

The ret really is just bloods and paperwork. The scans are the best bits for partners for sure.
