so despite having had contractions since my due date 9 days ago it looks like i'll be making it to my induction tomorrow :(! keeping my fingers crossed that i'll go tonight but have kind of given up hope considering have had 3 occasions where contractions got down to 6 minutes apart and still nothing! so basically am just wondering if anyone can give me a good idea as to how inductions go cos i want to be as prepared as i can be for tomorrow! so how long could it take once its started? will they put me straight on a drip or take it in stages? can i have a water birth with an induction?! xxx

My experience is that they tell you it will take 24 hours to start working but mine started about 10 hours after they gave me the pessary thingy! So my husband who has just got home had to turn around and come straight back to the hospital! I didn't have a drip until my waters had broken & I was dilating etc
I hadn't gone into labour naturally at all and was induced on my due date (due to my advanced age... 40!! Sorry to say I didn't have a very good time of it and ended up with an EMCS BUT a gorgeous healthy baby so I wasn't too unhappy overall.
Your situation sounds better to me - you body sounds like its pretty ready to get going, which I think mine wasn't so maybe it will just get it going and it will happen quite quickly for you! Is it your first?
Fingers crossed that maybe it will all start to happen tonight - perhaps you you have a few serious words with your bump tonight Smile

Do you want to be induced tomorrow? You don't have to be... If you don't want to be. Is it "routine" to be induced at 9 days over in your area?

I was induced at 12 days over> Couldn't go in the water. I had already started to contract, i went into labour about 3 hours after the pessary. I went into it very suddenly (prob as already started naturally but not much) and then 10 hours later he arrived. I didn't need a drip or anything further but they broke my waters.
