Baby movements but few kicks

Hi ladies - I am currently 30 weeks and seem to be noticing a change in baby movements over the past week. He still does move quite a lot but it's all little wriggles and shifts. The kicks have become very infrequent, only a few early in the morning and then very occasionally during the day. I can still feel a lot of movement, and see it rippling across my belly however it's not actually kicks. Have any of you experienced this? I had a checkup on tuesday and baby heartbeat was normal, but it's my first so everything worries me...

I think this is normal as the baby gets bigger so has less space and freedom to move. I'm 35 weeks and mine's had days of being very quiet, others very active and a lot of it is squirmy, poking movements. Ask your MW if you're really worried though.

Yes, it's normal for baby's movements to change as they run out of room but not decrease in frequency if that makes sense. I am 35 weeks now and get a few jabs/ kicks but mostly squirms and wriggles, like lottie said you can always double check with your mw.

its normal,I'm 34 weeks at the moment. On Monday the baby was moving so much, thought it was fighting to get out, yet a couple of days later barely felt a kick. I think it's cos they get bigger and are just running out of room. x

That sounds normal. My baby was never much of a kicker anyway, and after about 30w she rarely ever kicked. As the others say you can always check with your mw if you are worried, but as long as your baby is moving regularly in one way or another I'm sure everything is fine.

My 1st baby was a mental kicker from 18 weeks until he was born. I used to wonder if he actually ever slept.

Now this 2nd one has been more of a roller... or that's how it feels to me.
Maybe his kicks just are somehow softer.

Having the same issue here @ 31 weeks, very few kicks, but moving and wriggling a lot of the time.

Thank you all, sounds like it's not that unusual then

Hi deebee. Had my scan and sonography said I was getting v little movement because placenta is at front of the womb, so on effect there is additional cushioning where I would normally feel movements. Appsrently very common and should feel more as baby's arms and legs get stronger. Hope this helps.
