Second pregnancy - pelvic floor gone already!

I'm nearly 12 weeks into my second pregnancy and my pelvic floor has disintegrated. It doesn't help that I have a cold and keep sneezing and coughing.

I took lots of care after my last birth I get everything back in order. Nothing I do now seems to help - a little bit of wee keeps just sneaking out!!!

Any tips? How often should I do pelvic floor exercises? Are there any super-training methods for toughening it up again?

Or is it Tena lady for me until due date...

I suggest talking to your MW or GP, my pelvic floor was rubbish in my 2nd PG too, but I'm also rubbish at remembering to do the exercises!

If you have been doing yours then you can be referred to a physio who will give you different exercises to do.

Hiya, I had the same problem - suddenly got a vaginal wall prolapse at the beginning of this (2nd) pregnancy. My MW referred me to a woman's health physio. She gave me a set of 4 pelvic floor exercises and said do each 2-3 times, 2-3 times a day. They are:
-pull up pelvic floor as hard as possible and hold for 5 seconds
-pull up pelvic floor for a quick burst 5 times in a row
-imagine your pelvic floor is a lift and go up to the 1st floor then second floor then 3rd floor then back down through the floors one by one
-Go up to the the 2nd floor and hold for 10-20 secs.
She said these exercises were good for incontinence (less so for prolapse Sad)
Anyway, it might be good for you to get a referral but you could always do the exercises in the mean time.

every time I sneeze I do a little wee! You've has good advise regarding exercise on here, but in the meantime Always do an incontinence pad which is a little more discreet than a Tena!

Thanks both for your advice.

The good news is that now my cold has gone my pelvic floor is ok again - or at least there are no stressful moments for it! I'm going to try more pelvic floor training anyway, as now I've had a taste of stress incontinence I want to try and avoid it as long as possible!
