Flying when more than 36 weeks

has anyone done this? I have decided to go to England to have the baby and have heard that it is possible to fly past 36 weeks, but I can't find any airlines that allow it. I will be flying from Cairo with my six year old. Dh will stay here to finish his contract.
I would like to work a bit longer, with my first I worked on the Friday and went into labour on the Monday. I will be staying with my inlaws, so the less time before the baby comes, the easier it will be for me! Thanks!

I could not fin an airline who would let me fly after 36 weeks either I'm afraid, not even for a two hour flight...

Find, not fin

It's down to the individual airlines, and they are ruled by insurance. I don't know of any that will take you at 36 weeks+.

Thanks for the quick replies, I thought 36 weeks was the cut off, but wanted to check!

I far as I am aware(checked when pregnant previously) for majority of airlines cut off is 32 weeks only airlines like BA and maybe Virgin will allow you to fly till 36 weeks ,after that I'm afraid you're stuck..

Hiya. I am cabin crew for thomas cook n i kno that we are quite strict. I think the cut off is 34 weeks with us and u wud need a fit to fly letter from the doctor. If you have a doctor in egypt who is willing to sign a letter saying you are safe to fly then maybe give a few airlines a ring and tell them this? I wouldnt like to say about any other airlines other than thomas cook. Hope u manage to find sum1 :-)

I wondered this. I thought 28 weeks was the norm, but that some airlines allowed up to 34 weeks. I wanted to go back to the UK to find some work but I wanted to come back to Sweden to actually have the baby. Since I'm 29 weeks now it's pointless to go over as I wouldn't make enough money for it to be worth it if I had to come back at 34 weeks.
