I am 18 weeks pregnant and for the past few weeks at night I have been getting a huge pain in my bump that wakes me up.... Feels sort of like cramp. It also goes tight and hard for a while then goes. Was wondering if this is a Braxton hicks contraction as I thought these were painless and there is only one. Or could it be that I'm not sleeping in a good position and supporting bump so it's getting sore...?

I'm convinced it was a man that called a braxton hicks painless.. Sounds like its a braxton I get them a lot.. They are just tightenings that go.. Not majorly painful but not completely painless MEN grrr Angry

Ive been having loads lately and I cant say as I would call them painless but neither would I call it a huge pain, or would they wake me up, I did however have to invest in a wedge for my bump because I was getting a horrible pulling type pain that was waking me up if thats any help - Ive been a lot better for a wedge and a horse shoe pillow thing

It was deffo a man that said they we're painless. I'm 24wks with my 2nd & had my first ones yesterday. Totally freaked me out, I had no idea they could come this early. I didn't have any 1st time round & I was induced so I've not really experianced proper contractions either. I think I might be in for a shock if this one comes unaided!

I'm 28 weeks and havnt had one yet and am starting to worry because everyone seems to be getting them. My friend had them from 18 weeks and they also woke her up - her description was very similar to yours, if unsure give your midwife a call x

Thanks ladies. I didn't have any with my dd so no idea what they are supposed to be like but nothing like real contractions! Have started using my feeding cushion to support and so far have been ok at night with that! Smile
