Don't know if this is right topic but anyway, I have just found out after a fainting episode that I am 4 months pregnant. I took the 'holiday' pill back in november as me and my fiance were going abroad. We had a few reckless moments whilst there, as u do on all inclusive, and what do u know, my periods have been infrequent since. I did take a pregnancy test when we got back and it was negative and since I'd had a lil bleeding every month (light for me but I put it down to the holiday pill) I pressumed were A-OKAY, anyway. The last week when I've been in the bath I had what I remember as something kicking me in my belly. (We have one dd already) but since I'm NOT pregnant, I thought maybe its from working out etc... Then I went and fainted at work and rushed to hospital, blood tests taken and what not and they inform me I'm 4 months pregnant!!!!

I'm overjoyed in many ways, I mean to be pregnant and so far gone without any symptoms is wonderful but just a lil shell shocked and a bit disturbed because I've been drinking (social smoking) and body building for 4 months unaware! I havent been on mumsnet for about 5 years lol, but I'm back now to report my findings lol and i guess to catch up on anything pregnancy related....

My periods have always been all over the place but I've been on Yasmin for the last year or so and you don't always get a bleed on a the break.

I put on about half a stone and assumed it was Xmas podge! With hindsight there were movements but with the awful cheese, chocolate and crap diet I indulged in over Xmas I honestly thought it was just a dodgy tummy and wind! Durrrr!!!!

Yeah, you have to have the attitude what's done is done. My midwife said that they don't tell you to stop eating soft cheese in France and people do far worse in pregnancy (drugs, excessive drinking) that they are quite brazen about.

I was on the progesterone only pill and didn't have periods at all. I gained half a stone over christmas (very quickly) - but it was Christmas! My belly was getting bigger, but I never really stopped being pregnant-shaped after DS2 so, no change there. I did wonder why weightwatchers wasn't having ANY effect though!

A friend of mine has very irregular cycles and now has 2 DCs - she found out at nearly 4 1/2 months with DC1 & 3 1/2 months with DC2. With DC1, she thought she'd gone longer than usual and took a test - her stomach popped out about 2 weeks after she found out. With DC2, she said she'd mentioned to a friend that she'd had a weird taste in her mouth and her friend insisted that she take a pg test. She was really intrigued to see my dating scan pic because she'd never seen her DCs that small.

Congratulations OP :o I'm pleased it's goood news as it means I get to tell you that I read the OP as "just found out after a FARTING episode" - to be fair it could hvae been

I found out at 15 weeks when I got a letter from my GP saying "you know those routine blood tests we did...?"

I'd even done a test on NYE (around 8 weeks) before drowning my sorrows and getting totally plastered. To be fair, I'd lost a stone, stopped throwing up due to other medical issues, and hadn't had a period for nearly a year anyway.

Was going on holiday to south France at 19 weeks and both GP and MW told me to have 'one small glass of wine' with dinner each night, so I did. :)

My consultant told me not to be embarrased (have a doctorate in embryology...) - he knows two ob/gyns one who didn't notice she was pregnant until 7 months and the other over 9 months! I suppose if you are an ob/gyn people are too embarrassed to suggest to you that you might be pregnant?

Nearly at the end of pregnancy #2 and have to admit total ignorant bliss is much the better way to deal with the first trimester worries!

So would a full blood count tell you if your pregnant or do you need a specific test for that? Its all so exciting for everyone. I would love to not know... Not for the whole pregnancy but definitely for the first bit!!!

IslaValargeone · 05/02/2012 14:26

Have nothing of any use to add other than congratulations, and the fact you made me laugh out loud with the "We had a few reckless moments whilst there, as u do on all inclusive" comment :o

sasslejaney84 · 05/02/2012 17:29

Wow!! Congratulations and I have to echo previous comments about missing the whole 1st trimester!! Lucky lady!

I was 14 weeks when I found out I was pregnant with my DD! I'd had an irregular bleed about a week and a half before my period was due, as I'm never irregular I was concerned so did a test when I was late the following fortnight!

Very few people are that "lucky" as it were!!

BroomForMyChin · 05/02/2012 18:39

OP I was on Yasmin too, I didn't get any bleeding while I was pregnant but had also had only had 1 period in the 3 months before I fell pregnant. So 1 period in 7 months I genuinely thought I was dying and went to the doctors twice only to be told it was stress.

wow, congratulations you lucky thing!
